The Band, which was first called Split Stem, started in 2003 with Marc-Antoine Turgeon (Torsh) on the guitar. When Hugo (the first bass man of the band) went for a trip to Cuba, Benjamin Piette (Ben) took his place on the bass guitar. Rapidly, Ben and Torsh realised they had a lot in common and became good friends. Indeed the band decided to keep Ben in the band to play bass and sing instead of their other bass player. It didn’t take too long for Ben and Torsh to kick the other guitarist out of the band and a little later the drummer too. So they took Mathieu Babin (Math), one of their friends on the drum adding more of a pop punk taste to their style. With a new band like that they both agreed that the name of the band wasn’t good anymore. So the power trio Perfect Match saw the day in 2004 as a pop punk band. Playing more than twenty gigs and recording a demo with the guitarist of Reset (which is the old Simple Plan), the band was doing pretty well, but at the end of their first year together, Ben and Torsh we’re finding Math not motivated enough for the plans they had and furthermore, the style of music wasn’t punk enough for both of them, so they asked him to leave after a long talk, and started to search for a new drummer.

Anthony Cantin (Tony), who had already played in a lot of bands, was interested in trying out for Perfect Match. Learning all the songs in two weeks for an important gig and writing two new songs on top of that, Ben and Torsh knew he was the drummer they needed. Just after their gig in the spring of 2005, Old School Politics was born. There was still something missing, for the band wasn’t complete, and everyone knew it. After trying over fifteen guitarists, Torsh asked one of OSP’s friends, Jean-Christophe Durand (guitarist of Still Blind), to come and play guitar for them. Again, learning a bunch of songs rapidly, they knew he was the little thing that was missing in the band. Old School Politics was finally complete and ready to play everywhere and anytime..! But after another year, Jc though the band was becoming to serious for him, so he quit the band. Jee, who had played with Ben in another band called Arnak, took the place on the guitar and brought a little bit of serious in the band, which was truly missing!

From then on, Old School Politics has always displayed their values, played over a hundred and fifty gigs and never stopped touring anytime they can. They’re always ready to help other bands whenever they can and they played cool bands such as : A Wilhelm Scream, The Briggs, Subb, Left Alone, Reset, The Johnstones, High Five Drive, The Expos, The Real Deal and Living With Lions to name a few..!

With their own true sound, Old School Politics is definitely a band you should want to see live, drink beers with or simply listen to..!

Déjà presque 6 ans, maintenant, sépare le temps où 4 jeunes garçons jouaient de la musique inécoutable dans un vieux sous-sol créant enssemble un rêve qui prit plus tard le nom de Old School Politics. Si ce n'est que la musique à évolué, dans multiples sens différents, et que plusieurs membres différents se sont joints et ont quitté la famille d'Old School Politics, le groupe n'a pas perdu une seconde de leurs rêves et de leur énergie qui a inspiré leur jeunesse. Après 2 cd sorties indépendement, une dizaine de démo perdus un peu partout au Canada, plus de 200 spectacles, des milliers de litres de bière, Old School Politics continue à jouer sans jamais s'arrêter une seconde, en charmant plus d'un grâce à leur son Rock, Punk bien à eux.

Dans les dernières années, le groupe s'est démarqué en jouant avec des actes Canadiens et Américains importants, tels que : A Wilhelm Scream, The Briggs, Subb, Left Alone, Reset, The Johnstones, High Five Drive, The Expos, The Real Deal et Nichiels pour en nommer quelques un! Gardant un sens des valeurs important et restant toujours fidèle à sois-même, Old School Politics enregistrera bientôt un nouvel Album qui sortira au début de l'année 2010!
