Sounds Like
'Old School Tie bastardise genres as if the very word doesn't exist. The lucid tribal grooves soaked with layers of trance inducing guitar give Mystery Sound Playground a cathartic grace- an enchanting listen.'
(Andy Roberts. 'The Fly' November Issue)
A cool clattering of percussion shakes you up prior to some funky and rollicking basslines moving you somewhere between Leftfield and Chemical Bros...but OST are a rock band, all be it one with dance, soul and jazz chops to full back on. We even detect a hint of Steve Hillage , not to mention yer man Zappa….grrrreat.
Dublin Castle, Camden (Feb 2009)
'The album has a euphoric, laid back, dreamy feel with their signature bubbling bass sound, intricate guitar melodies and layers... take a listen and breathe in their magnificence!
This is a 5 out of 5 album, no doubt!

JIVE MAGAZINE RATING: 4 OUT OF 5

Like a pop kid without their ritilin, OST mix the progressive persuasion of modern pop with a short attention span and some mind melding beats creating something muscular, malevolent and darn right exciting!

A blend of subtle electronic sounds and varied strengths of guitar sounds complement the lush vocals

" the tunes are carefully written, full of passion, and delivered with sincerity. Huge heavy sections crashing into tender nothingness. Bass lines and kit tie together perfectly, they're not all staring down at their shoes, and the audience - quite rightly - loves them. So do I. They're great."
(Moles Club, Bath - Chris Chislett)
'glorious, stately and enormous in its concept from beginning to end'
(Stephen Morris - BBC Reviewer)
'Imaginitive and inspiring, this band will surely appeal to thousands who aspire to creative and magnetic sounds, we loved it!
(Indie News Live.com)
'Pushing Post-Rock up a notch, Old School Tie have separated themselves from their counterparts by the introduction of epic keyboards and superb production values, creating mezmerizing soundscapes that never fails to be attention grabbing.
(Brumcast, Birminghams best bands.)
'Good, solid post-rock action, tinged with electronics. Confident, interesting, it sounds like you really care about what your'e doing, great stuff!'
(Future Music Magazine, 'This months Top Tracks')
Biography:
We are 4 young men who have been playing music together for years. We want to create a mash up of dance/electro/dub/rock happyness. We live in Moseley in Birmingham where we make music in a garage. We have had a lot of good times so far in our short lifespan as a band and long may they continue...
We are an independent act, we have released 5 self funded and produced EP's, created the legendary small, green, ethical 'Fieldview Festival' and continue to make music we believe in and hope others will enjoy and appreciate.
As a group we have gigged throughout the South of the UK, gracing many epic house parties, jamming and breaking many things. We are fortunate to have played four times at the University of Birmingham's Vale Festival, played a muddy 2000 Trees Festival, graced a cold cold stage at Kingston's Green Fair in the horrible summer of 2007, played the cursed Moonfest 08, we were selected to play at the Radio One Big Weekend Fringe Event by a Radio One panel including Hew Stephens, we have provided soundtracks for independent film and have been honoured to share bills with the likes of The Infadels, Cursive, Oceansize, Blackbud, Shy FX, The Mexicolas, The Anomalies, 360 and other talented and not so talented musicians....
Big big independence day show in camden town, £5 with this flyer, brings your friends, mothers and lovers for a night of dancelisciousness.
Our next awareness night for Fieldview Festival, 11th July at the excellent 12 Bar, Swindon, £3!!!! Raising money for the festival so we don't go bankrupt. Playing with some of our favourite groups.
Secondly, the much anticipated line up for FVF 2009, read it, research the bands, prepare your decorated wellies and get some rest in preparation.
A kind collective who reviewed our LP, hit them up and check out this weeks reviews, coz we are there, and they say nice things about our lyrics...
