Havalorn, once a world of magic and wonder, now on the verge of destruction. It has been 100 years since the Sauroids and their Dragons appeared in the skies.
At first humanity and all its allies had the help of the gods that ruled over the world. With the priests and mages helping the fighting forces of Havalorn, the hordes of Dragonmen were kept at bay. A battle like none ever seen raged across the lands...then the Dragonmen changed the balance of the fight. They opened a portal to the hells and struck a bargain with demon lords to come and fight for them. This caused the gods to depart the realms of Havalorn overnight, leaving the land bereft of magic. The people feel that even their gods had left them, stripping the world of magic. Now magic is a dangerous thing, a danger to those who use it and to anyone near it.
One by one the kingdoms of Havalorn have surrendered or were destroyed.
30 years have passed since then...Only 1 kingdom stands against the Darkness that rules the land...The Oleander Kingdom, home of the Citidel of Humanity, ruled by Queen Illana the Fair. Her council is led by the Prime Minister a friend of her father's, an older man whom she can trust to give her the council she needs.
They have put out a call across Havalorn for heroes to come to their aid.
Procopius, a boy Lorekeeper from the Citidel itself is one
Karanna, only survivor of her village,a Mage is another
Mordacai, wandering swordswoman, keeper of an Executioner's Sword, will lead them
..

Here's what people are saying about my novella, Monkey Love:
"John Paul Allen delivers well-drawn characters and emotional dynamite in this tale of dark suspense" - Scott Nicholson, author of They Hunger.
"One sadistic piece of work by one of the most talented new voices in dark fiction." - Karen Koehler, author of the Slayer series.
"Disturbing and intense, this story is a one-sit read that races, carrying you along to grim, uncharted terrain." - Lee Thomas, Bram Stoker Award-Winning author of Stained, Parish Damned and The Dust of Wonderland.
"From the first page, Monkey Love draws you into a surreal world that teeters on a disturbing balance of madness, eroticism, and obsession." David Niall Wilson, author of Deep Blue and Ancient Eyes.
"It's a wild ride, and I loved it from first page to last." - John R. Little, author of The Memory Tree and Placeholders.
"Exquisitely well-written, more than slightly twisted and compelling erotica for all horror readers." T.M. Wright, author of the forthcoming Bone Soup and Blue Canoe.
"Monkey Love is my first read by John Paul Allen and I can promise it won't be the last. Touching, peverse, oddly poignant and riddled with interesting questions about the nature of love and obsession, I can't recommend it enough. Monkey Love is the sort of tale that pushes the boundaries of comfortable and makes us question our own morals." - James A. Moore, author of Deeper and Blood Red.
