About me:

Born on a cold winter evening of 1960 in Duisburg in the heart of the Ruhrgebiet, I was soon exposed to my mothers excellent record collection (as she's from of a musicians family); my father was not into music at all, he was doing fashion. It was quite early in the seventies that I started buying my own records and, later in that decade, I was more and more focused on Reggae and Punk, as Düsseldorf's Ratinger Hof became the regular spot to hang out. I finished school in 1981 and went immediately to Berlin for studying journalism, but after sundown I studied Berlin nightlife too, as it happened in Music Hall, Dschungel and other (West-)Berlin clubs during the Eighties. Musically, HipHop was strongly influential in that time, but Reggae kept the N° 1 position of musical favourites. In this consequence I've been working for quite a few years in Berlins "Downbeat" record store and started to broadcast a weekly radio show named "Dubstreet" on "Radio 100" (which was official, but pirate radio style) alongside Norbert Rudnitzky, who would be my radio partner for the next 20 years. When the wall eventually came down in 1989 the city suddenly was twice as big and the nightlife exploded, which saw me intensifying my studies (both) and finally making the examen (as a journalist). Together with Norbert another two radio shows were launched by 1992: "Dope Beats" on DT64/Sputnik for HipHop and the long running "Blackboard Jungle" for club music such as Reggae, Jungle, HipHop etc. on Fritz. This show became actually very sucessfull and also influential for almost a generation of listeners as we delivered weekly shows with the newest stuff for more than 15 years, including hundreds of musicans-interviews and DJ sets and fifteen sizzling birthday parties. In the present, since 2008 when the time with Fritz was over, you can get me saturdays on Radio Eins ("Dancehall" 19h-21h) or still behind the decks in various clubs...
