Nouvelle création de la compagnie Mémoires Vives qui termine ainsi sa résidence chorégraphique à Pôle Sud. Après “A nos morts“, “Folies Colonies” et “Héritages”, voici un autre aspect du travail de ces artistes citoyens qui ont décidé il y a quelques années de mettre à jour de sombres pages de notre histoire contemporaine. Mêlant danse hip hop, slam-rap et jazz manouche, cette pièce chorégraphique pour 5 danseurs, 3 musiciens et 1 slameur raconte le “Samudaripen” (génocide en langue rom) des tziganes internés par Vichy, déportés et exterminés par le régime nazi. C’est en questionnant l’humanité, son passé, son présent et son devenir que l’équipe désire à nouveau rappeler comment les idéologies racistes du XXème siècle qui ont conduit au pire, remontent encore, ici et là, dans les discours, les écrits, les attitudes condescendantes. La pièce prend appui sur l’énergie et l’histoire d’un danseur de la compagnie, Michaël Stoll qui est l’un des pionniers de la danse hip hop à Strasbourg. Manouche d’origine, son histoire, celle de sa communauté, le traverse et alimente son expression artistique depuis des années. C’est tout naturellement que cette proposition thématique a été incluse comme nouveau projet de la compagnie Mémoires Vives. La persécution séculaire des nomades en Europe, leur extermination durant l’Holocauste est un sujet difficile mais nécessaire à raconter, à exprimer, à danser, à chanter.
Hey guys! After a year and a half we are back charging full steam ahead with the release of our latest album "Songs For The Road Towards The End Of The World" this past May 31, 2009. Unlike our two previous releases this was a long duration album (LP) featuring 12 all created by Pete Drown. Mike Mellow participated in the album by co-producing it and creating the art. The first single is called "Ciento Once Grados" (111 Degrees) and we have a brief video/slideshow teaser for it on our page.
