Oliver first started singing publicly at age 11 when he appeared in Whitehorse Musical Theatre's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" in 2002 in the children's ensemble.
After this he participated in the Young Australian Broadway Chorus for several years and various other musical productions with lead and supporting roles in:
"A Kidsummer Night's Dream" (Puck - Sleeping Star Productions, 2002), "Les Miserables" (Gavroche - Babirra Music Theatre Inc. 2003), "The Magic Sceptre" (Spat - Track Youth Theatre, 2003), "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" (Adult Ensemble - Players Theatre Company, 2004), "Bye Bye Birdie" (Randolph MacAfee - Whitehorse Musical Theatre), "The Outsiders" (Ponyboy - Box Hill High School, 2004), "Guys And Dolls" (Box Hill High School, 2005), "Kiss Me Kate" (Gremio - Box Hill High School, 2006). Oliver also performs with the Hartwell Players (Melbourne's oldest community theatre group) in pantomimes, one act plays and Shakespeare plays.
Oliver has also performed in several Youth Operas including:
"The Little Sweep" (Hughie Chrome - OzOpera, 2003), "Noye's Fludde" (Panda - Victorian Opera, 2006), ,"Snow Queen" (Ensemble - Victorian Opera, 2007)
Oliver is trained in classical voice by John and Jenny Shields of the Donvale Piano and Vocal Studio and performs in various vocal concerts both with the studio and outside. In 2007 he won the 16 and under section in the Mannigham Eisteddfod (vocal), and was a finalist in his school talent show.
In 2008 Oliver has sung in Box Hill High School's "Eureka!" as Sean Flynn/Carboni, Babirra Music Theatre's "The Merry Widow" and more, while studying Classical Voice units 3 and 4. He has also recently won 3rd place for the VCE section and honourable mention in the open-age light opera/musical theatre section at Ringwood Eisteddfod and an honourable mention in the 18 and under Musical Theatre section at Dandenong Eisteddfod.
In October this year, Oliver will sing in Victorian Opera's "The Happy Prince". For ticket details, see www.victorianopera.com.au or ticketmaster.com.au. He may also make his choreographic debut in Hartwell's "The Ordinary Princess" early in 2009.
