Oliver Waitze is revered for his exquisite taste, tone, and ability to play genres ranging from bluegrass to jazz to hot swing, latin and beyond. In addition to his love of bluegrass, Oliver developed an interest in Swing Manouche and Jazz through his exposure to the music of Django Reinhardt, David Grisman and Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. Oliver also explored the haunting latin sounds of Brazilian Choro music.

Together, the three musicians amalgamate their qualities to form an entertaining musical ménage à trois and demonstrate stylistic versatility in the process, a high level of virtuosity and enormous joy at playing, with a repertoire that consists of hot swing, Brazilian choro and traditional bluegrass. Harmonies are woven together with elegance, the melody passes skillfully between the mandolin and the guitar and is always well cared for by a vigorous double bass. This makes “A Jazzy Note” a musical delight that is bound to thrill acoustic music fans.
Im Sommer 2000 ursprünglich als Duo geplant, haben sich nun diese drei Virtuosen endgültig gefunden: Akustikgitarrist Oliver Waitze, Mandolinenspieler Jesper Rübner und Kontrabassist Max Schaaf. „Swing That Music“ lautet ihr musikalisches Motto, das sie auf „A Jazzy Note“ eindrucksvoll unter Beweis stellen.
Alle drei Musiker bringen dabei einen reichhaltigen Erfahrungsschatz ein. Waitze ist Solomusiker, Multiinstrumentalist, Fachbuchautor und Mitbegründer des Gitarrenfachgeschäfts New Acoustic Gallery (www.n-a-g.net) in Solingen. Rübner genießt einen exzellenten Ruf als kompetenter Workshop-Autor, sowie als erfahrener Musiker ohne Berührungsängste zwischen Bluegrass, Klassik, Jazz und Folk, Schaaf wiederum hat sich an der Seite des Gypsy-Swing-Meistergitarristen Joscho Stephan einen Ruf als exzellenter Sideman erspielt.
Zusammen verschmelzen sie ihre Qualitäten als „vibrierendes Trio“ zu einer äußerst unterhaltsamen musikalischen ménage à trois und zeigen dabei stilistische Vielseitigkeit, hohe Virtuosität und enorme Spielfreude bei ihrem Repertoire aus Hot Swing, brasilianischem Choro und traditionellem Bluegrass. Das Dreigestirn zeigt mitreißendem Esprit bei Traditionals wie „David“, bei stilvollen Adaptionen des Django-Reinhardt-Klassikers „Douce Ambiance“ oder bei einer gut gelaunten Interpretation des beliebten „Panhandle Rags“.
