Jonathan Spring...most of us are old timers in the filk scene. I played sets of Harry Potter songs at Goblet of Fire parties back in 2000, when recording gear was more expensive, distribution was a pain, and we had to walk 12 stories to our dorm rooms - upstairs, both ways! A few books, a college degree, and a couple albums later, we're back to wrock! Only I'm not Adam in this band. I'm a post-DH Oliver Wood struggling to find his place in the world now that he's not a quidditch player.
Everybody else seems to have a Harry Potter themed rock band........Five years after the battle of Hogwarts, a lot of us were falling on hard times. We won the battle, sure, but my nerves were shot, and my chances at making it beyond the reserve team at Puddlemere United were over. But I'm just a part of a whole lost generation, bumming from job to job and town to town, remembering what we we have to and trying to forget the rest. I got tired of making speeches on anniversaries and wishing people would think of me as something more than "the guy who was captain of Harry's team" all those years ago. I don't go to the reunions anymore, unless you count the rallies to get the ministry to take better care of the veterans. Our friends weren't the only things that died on that battlefield. But I'm still alive, you can't kill a dream...and we were born to fly!
Oliver Wood and his Diagon Alley Band is a side-project of author Adam Selzer, who writes smart alecky books for young adults (and runs ghost tours in Chicago). Enjoy! The EP of demos is up here now, and the full album, Live at Chudley Stadium is coming soon!

Hey there! I just realised I never told you what I thought of your EP after you generously sent the files to me!
I have had so much fun listening to it! You are clearly having fun with your music and it's great for wrocking out to! 'Cooler than Neville' particularly makes me smile!
...for accepting the Request^^ Your music is really wrocksome! "I used to be cooler than Neville" made me laugh, poor Oliver Wood *hugs* I guess it's not the time to say that I've always loved Neville better? :p
