Born in Stockport, a large town just south of Manchester (England) Ollie Collins found his musical feet along side his older brother John (check out Starbase 109 link below).
At 11 years Ollie switched from piano to Bass guitar and developed his technique by jamming along with other local musicians.
1n 1995 Ollie studied Jazz Harmony, Arranging, reading and the Double Bass at Leeds College of Music. These skills, together with a wealth of performance and recording experience helped Ollie shape his career as a session musician.
In the subsequent years has been busy recording and performing with local artists; Angie Palmer "Jersey Street" (Glasgow Underground), Mettle Music (Toko), Big Finn (MR) and also Rebelski (Heavenly,EMI) Holly Lerski (Sanctuary). As well as performances with Global artists: Bob Mintzer, Branford Marsalis and Alan Parsons.
In 2003 Ollie produced and released his debut album "Make Time Last" he also authors the critically acclaimed "Ollie Collins' Global Bass website and has received global traffic and album sales. Ollie performs regularly with his Manchester Jazz/Fusion outfit "Acoustric" which play an original repertoire.
Still residing in Manchester Ollie has become a mainstay in the local music scene. Playing both electric and upright bass and together with backing vocals he manages to sustain enough Pop/Rock and Jazz gigs and recording to work full time.
