About me:

I use this MySpaz page to...

...discover new music and to spread the word of great music that's not being heard... there's so much out there. People need to lose the blinkers and look beyond whats being marketed at them.

...And to spread the word of a band I'm fanatical about - SIX.BY SEVEN. Their first single 'European Me' was described as "one of the greatest debut singles of all time".
The late great JOHN PEEL was a big fan of SIX.BY SEVEN! So much so he had them on the show for 5 separate Peel sessions.

For more info on the band go here:

The SIX.BY SEVEN Album, 'Just Because I'm Paranoid' is available now. This is a download-only collection of demo's picked from the 50 or so written for the comeback album which was to become 'Just Because I'm Paranoid'. Six.By Seven split up in November 2008.

The new download-only album by Chris Olley's Twelve is out now! - 'Houston We Have No Problem'

Also available is Twelve:03

This is a great record, sweeping, beautiful, loops, melodies, and soundtracks.
The album is limited to 500 copies.

This is a classic record and is every bit as good, if not better than anything by the Krautrock greats. It takes the ideas of Krautrock and improves upon them.

"soundtracks and heartbeats in space".

Both albums and more are available in the online shop here: www.sixbyseven.co.uk/six-by-seven-shop.php www.myspace.com/twelvemusic

fuck me USA

“more guns than goodfellas, more cocaine than scarface”

fuck me USA was started in February 2006 (after Chris Olley from Six by Seven went touring with Julian Cope) as a concept, a group designed as an idea: everything, from the lyrics, the notes, the artwork, the instruments and the press shots needed to be in place before a single note was played. What followed was twisted film noir storylines over a 150BPM beat, sung in a style not dissimilar to Alan Vega's from '77’s New York punk scene.

Live, fuck me USA, made their debut at the 2006 Glade Festival. A two-piece, in the same tradition as the pet shop boys and suicide, the two performers are the yin and yang, the shock and awe, of their own American dream. On one side of the stage a vocalist, in peaked cap and black leather, buckled and studded, clutching a microphone in one hand and an American flag in the other, moaning and pleading like a femme fatal who's met her match. On the other side a keyboard player, trailer park red neck, mid western trash, staring out at a disbelieving audience.

fuck me USA hails from the middle of England, the Upper East Side of the Midlands and sounds like Alan Vega, Sigue Sigue Sputnik's 'Flaunt It', and Underworld layered with Velvet Underground guitars.

fuck me USA features six.byseven members Chris Olley and James Flower.

fuck me USA sounds like an electronic version of six.byseven with a dash of spaceman 3 and the velvet underground jamming with Underworld and Iggy Pop in an Amsterdam night club.

Spotlight Kid
Born out of frustration, born out of bad luck or just fate? Chris Davis conceived Spotlight Kid in late 2005. His former band Six By Seven had reached a cross roads and it was time to take a new route and go it alone, well almost...
Having already written an arsenal of new songs, Chris Davis asked long time friend and singer Katty Heath if she would like to join the ride and see what happens. Having fulfilled her commitments with her former band Bent, she agreed and Spotlight Kid began.
Six months and eleven songs later and the finished album has landed.
46 minutes of beautiful epic music that fills your soul with fire, shifting through the hazy drone rock of Spacemen 3 and the velvets through to the uplifting beauty of Lush, MBV and Swervedriver, cutting a glance in the right direction to the great moments of shoegaze, krautrock and 90s psychedelia.
Former Six By Seven members Sam Hempton and James Flower also make a welcome appearance on the album, amongst other friends who chipped in. At the core though is Chris Davis, who always had a clear image of how the record should turn out

The album,Departure, is available now in all good record shops.

Yeah... I'm good, thanks. Nothing much going on. There's work and more work, and the inevitable lead up to Christmas. Swish has a new album out in December. That should take a lot of work, as usual.

Not on Facebook or anything else like that. Just Myspace & iSound at the moment.
  • Nov 22 2009 9:53 PM

    Did my comment post? hmmm....
  • Nov 22 2009 9:53 PM

I think the Twilight Sad album is a grower. It's a bit of an ugly turn, though. It feels like they're trying to put people off. But I like it. Not a favorite, or anything, but a worthy follow-up.
I love the Editors' new album. I'd given up on them completely after their debut and An End Has A Start, but I randomly purchased their new one whilst at a record store out of vauge curiosity. Far, far, far better than anything they've put out before. Although, all the buying-their-albums-at-Tesco people seem to really dislike it.... Ha ha!

NEW FREE HERV DIGITAL RELEASE OUT NOW ON COCK ROCK DISCO!

Heres what label owner Jason Forrest had to say!

Herv: "Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..."

"Ireland's sexiest laptopper lands his latest mini-album on Cock Rock Disco!
"Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..." is a rave inspired
experimental break-acid-core thrill ride of endless ideas and possibilities.
Herv packs a lot into the 8 tracks; melodies evolve and twist, beats
fracture and congeal and synths collide! It's exciting!  But that's not all,
it comes with 2 cd designs and a freakin A0 sized poster! Whoa! Can't beat
    the value in that!"

The album is available to download from here:

    http://www.cockrockdisco.com/CRD2/albumpages/Crockp3-019.html

    Kind regards

    Ewan Herv.
