Omar_G began his musical career at age 12 with the purchase of a drum kit, and he never looked back. After taking lessons for years and playing drums in numerous funk and rock bands in high school and college, he purchased a set of technics decks in 1999 and began collecting house, breaks, and drum and bass vinyl. The beats began to really roll out after a summer abroad in London in '99, where he drew true dancefloor inspiration from the clubbers and djs at drum and bass, house, and breaks parties at venues such as The End, Bar Rhumba, and Scala. A Boston native, he returned to the states and applied this energy by spinning in nightclubs in 2000, holding a thursday night dnb residency. A move to Miami in 2001 shifted the focus front and center to progressive and tribal house, influences that were heavily shaped by experiences at Crobar and Space. After returning from another London summer in 2002 and tacking on many top nights at Fabric, Omar G kicked it up a notch on the Miami scene, and has played at many venues, both presently open and now defunct. In seven years in South Florida, he has blessed the decks at Crobar, Space, Maze, Blue, Lola, Nerve, Lime Bar, and many more, alongside djs such as Hybrid, Donald Glaude, Trendroid, Spacemen, Trip Theory,David Alvarado and more. He has held residencies at Tantra and Karma Lounge. In 2008 he was a Miami New Times dj finalist. The fall of 2008 sees a move to Southern California, where he will team up with his production partner as well as continue mixing it up.

This dj’s sound employs harmonic mixing, utilizing melody heavily and determining key signatures for every record, creating smoother sounding mixes and total control over the vibe. The house sounds are uk progressive edged dancefloor funk, with elements of tribal, tech house and old school vibes. His global perspective keeps the sounds organic, fresh, and influenced by djs and producers around the world. His record collection contains over four thousand vinyls with rare trip hop, classic rock, old school hip hop, in addition to the large array of tech and progressive house, while his digital collection contains thousands of carefully cultivated tracks. Few djs are still around that have paid their dues and stayed in the game, and Omar G is right up there. ___________________________________________________________
