From Atlanta, Georgia: CAN CAN and FINLETTER are playing brilliant punk music, most appropriate for a year of epic recession. CAN CAN playing at ALCOVE GALLERY earlier in 2008 takes the banner for most impressive concert performance of the year.
To that end, TENTH TO THE MOON, having put out the most scathing lyrical compact of 2008 - BUILT YOUR HOUSE ON STILTS - will continue to represent electronica at maximum pitch in 2009. They similarly have gotten it right over the year past.
Collectively, expect this IMMORTAL TRIO to inspire the parched local music landscape with newfound center over the year ahead.
Additionally expect new order in the pop-arena emerging in parallel, realized through OMINOUS CASTLE, also belonging to Atlanta. Carrying the banner for inspired psychadelic output, they will by all estimates continue to map and massacre uncharted frontiers within that tradition through 2009.
Collectively, these few groups represent predominantly unknown pleasures, especially FINLETTER. Operating in tandem they will proceed to get it right over the next year. If they can pull it off, foreseeably, they will effectively de-leverage the pulsing orgy that was Atlanta music in 2008.
"I just don't think they have the songs."
If things don't correct, look out for a liquidation of the Atlanta musical pyramid scheme in 2009. Local concert venue landlords should take note. We could do without anymore RUN ON THE BAND occurrence over the next year.
Hey Gents! Nice to have met you the other night. I enjoyed the tunes very much and that stage setup intrigues me. I felt the bass-heavy, pulsating rhythm of "Chainsaw" was the highlight for me. I could feel that loop pounding in my heart. Thanks so much for playing and I hope we can get something else rolling sometime down the line. Chances are, I'll be at your CD Release show, so I hope to see you guys then.
oh my. this is the first i've heard anything about it.. did a quick google search and found that Richard Wright passed away. that's such sad news to hear.
