Om Shanti Om is a Bollywood film directed by Farah Khan. It stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles as the protagonists while Shreyas Talpade and Arjun Rampal feature in supporting roles. Guest appearances are made by several stars.
The film's score and soundtrack will be composed by the musical duo, Vishal-Shekhar with lyrics by renowned poet, Gulzar. Music sittings for the film were recently held at Madras. Cinematography for the movie is handled by V. Manikandan whilst editing is handled by Shirish Kunder, both who have previously worked with Khan in Main Hoon Na. The film is said to be based on reincarnation. Shooting of the film will begin in January 2007 at various locations in India.
STORY
In the film the main role is played by Om Prakash Makhija (Shahrukh Khan), a junior artist in the film industry set in the 1970's and his sidekick friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade) who are trying to become a big hero one day. Om’s mother, Bela Makhija (Kirron Kher) who is seen inspiring and encouraging their son to become a hero. Om is seen here as a happy go lucky kind of guy and they talked with each other in a filmy way. Om’s love interest is Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone), a rising star. During the premire of a film, the pallu of Shanti’s shari got entrangled with Om’s hand; he managed to enter the hall duping the guards. One day during the shooting of film, the set caught fire in an uncontrolled manner, Shanti was trapped inside the film, it was Om who rescued her, hurting himself. After the incident, Shanti came to thank him personally, and incidentally she overheard Om’s love for her.
First Om and Pappu told that Om is a big superstar of south film industry, and even called her to watch him during a shoot completely arranged by Om. However, the truth was revealed. But after that day, they often met each other. Shanti even came to meet Om hidden in a burkha. Then there is a twist in the story, Om managed to cross the security and tried to meet Shanti, but he over heard that Shanti is already married to Mukesh Mehra (Arjun Rampal), a producer and is pregnant. Mukesh told Shanti that he cannot marry her because, he is going to marry the daughter of a rich businessman who is financing his upcoming film Om Shanti Om for which he require 40 lakhs rupees. After that, Om got heartbreak. Mukesh called Shanti to the sets of Om Shanti Om (proposed film by Mukesh), telling her that he has decided to cancel the film and will throw a party where he is going to reveal about his marriage with Shanti.
But, he held Shanti responsible for his financial loss, and set fire in the sets of the film so that Shanti also die in the fire. Incidentally Om was siting during the night outside the studio and he curiously went inside seeing Mukesh and Shanti entering the studio. But he went outside the studio. But after sometime he saw Mukesh going away with his car. He find out Shanti trapped inside crying out for help, he tried to help her. But, some of the security guards who were bribed by Mukesh beat him, even after that Om tried to save Shanti, but in vain. In the blast Om was thrown outside, but was hit by a car owned by Rajesh Kapoor (Javed Sheikh) who was rushing his pregnant wife to a hospital. Rajesh took him to the hospital, but Om died due to burns as well as the impact of the accident.
The films moves 30 years after the incident. He gets rebirth as Om Kapoor (son of Rajesh Kapoor), a burn sign like the Om on the wrist can be seen where Om used to have a tattoo. He is seen as a rising star and also known as OK. On days he used to see some vision about his last life. During the shooting of one of his film, Om visited the burnt set, he again remembered about his past life. He is seen having a phobia from fire. During the party thrown in to celebrate the winning of Filmfare Award by Om, he met with with Mukesh. He remembered him and, plans to make Mukesh confess the murder. In the meanwhile, Om met with Pappu and Bela, Om’s mother. He decided to remake the film Om Shanti Om, which was not complete.
Mukesh was requested to become the producer of the film. During the audition for the role of Shanti, the audition crew met Sandy or Sandhya, a look alike of Shantipriya. They made a plan; they took Mukesh to the burnt film set to announce the beginning of the film. Where Om tried to react the whole murder with the help of the starcast of the announced film. Sandy often appeared to make Mukesh realize that Shanti is alive. He really got afraid. But things take a turn and Mukesh comes to know about the plan. Mukesh tried to kill Om, but couldn’t. In the climax of the film it is seen that the soul of Shantipriya appears, and tells where her body is. She helps Om by killing Mukesh by making a chandelier fall on Mukesh. Finally Om and Sandy gets married for a happy ending.
When viewed this film and especially the first part of self-saw,I was the same,loved the movie and everything with without him related.Was not able to live without it.One part of the film is related to me as if to me.
