From the recession affected suburbs of Detroit to the surrounding neighborhoods of the Jackson prison, the members of Michigan’s Once We Were Buried are no strangers to the adversity and constant struggle of not only the vast and sometimes over saturated music scene, but of life itself. Having been a band since early 2007, the band has faced several lineup changes and consistently has progressed in the maturing of their music with each of these changes.
Having played hundreds of shows in the past few years, OWWB’s influence and fan base has stretched from their state to the majority of the Midwest and possessed most of the southern states as well. Receiving much online attention after the release of their three song demo that they recorded with Joey Sturgis at his famed Foundation studio in late 2007, OWWB has since captivated audiences composed of fans and fellow musicians alike.
Noted most for their precision and crushing tone live, OWWB has strengthened the opinions other scenes have made of them with each return to the surrounding states of Michigan. The band itself is comprised of, in their opinion, the perfect collection of musicians to achieve the collective musical goal of the band. Not only does each member aim to perfect each written song, but each of the five young men have made preparations in their life to continue doing this for a long time.
After just recently completing a tour with Metalblade’s own Rose Funeral, the guys have begun to narrow their focus on writing new material in preparation for their long anticipated full length album. Aside from this, the five young men of Once We Were Buried plan to continue touring non-stop until they have created a strong following in every scene readily at their disposal.
