Gli Onde Ran sono composti da 4 ragazzi la cui grande passione per i Doors e' culminata con la formazione di una vera e propria band tributo, per rivivere quello spirito sciamanico, quell'impatto marcatamente teatrale e quel sound psichedelico di matrice allucinogena che solo Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger e John Densmore erano capaci di creare grazie alla loro musica.
Il nome del gruppo nasce dalla trasformazione dell'espressione inglese "On The Run", il cui significato letterale e' "in fuga", in Onde Ran.
Secondo la mitologia nordica infatti, un dio di nome Aegir (la personificazione dell'oceano) aveva una moglie meravigliosa e incantevole di nome Ran, regina delle ondine (o sirene), le cosiddette "nove onde del mare"; ella era percio' nota per la sua dolcissima e armoniosa musica, per la capacita' di leggere nel futuro, per i suoi incantesimi e per la sua stupenda bellezza.
Secondo questo mito le anime di coloro che affogavano in mare andavano a finire nel suo reame, e per arrivare al suo castello sottomarino era necessario passare attraverso il Maelstrom, il terribile gorgo che secondo questo e altri miti esiste in un qualche luogo remoto del mare del nord.
Ran era anche indicata come la patrona delle ragazze e delle giovani non ancora sposate.

Onde Ran are composed by four guys whose strong passion for the Doors culminated forming a tribute band. During their shows they try to recreate the psychedelic sound and the theatrical spirit proper of the legendary group led by Jim Morrison.
The name of the band is a pun from the english expression "On The Run" (that means "to run in hiding" and calls to mind some Morrison's lines), becoming "Onde Ran", which is the real italian pronunciation and it means literally "Waves Ran".
In fact, according to the Nordic mythology, Ran was the wife of Aegir, the God of the seashore, and she was the sea goddess of storms, collecting drowned people in her net. Ran and Aegir had nine daughters who were the waves -- all of their names are poetic names for waves.
