1865, the combination of melodically aggressive production and thought provoking lyrical content. 1865 is a dynamic act who appeals to those who find the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ras Kass, Outkast, The Sex Pistols, and Curtis Mayfield an enjoyable audio adventure. 1865’s musical awareness began to bloom at at the early age of Eight through the medium of Alto Saxophone. Throughout the years he has accumulated the ability to create music from just about any tangible instrument. With his humble approach and hyper like concentration, these accumulations were displayed when 1865 released his first studio album, Dark Matter, in July of 2007.
"This is an excellent debut for an artist who handled the duties of emceeing and production. This type of music barely exists anymore and has me eagerly waiting for what 1865 has to offer next." - Insomniac Magazine.
With a highly charged, emotionally energetic live show, 1865 has already been the opening buzz for the likes of The Pharcyde, The Roots, 9th Wonder, Zebrahead, Def Jux, and Scroobious Pip vs Dan Le Sac. With the ability to powerfully deliver both banging production and lyrics, we invite you to the sounds of a young man out of the depths of San Francisco...

Instead of the watered down critiques that I see from everyone posting on music pages, I'll keep it real and tell you what I feel when listening to your music.
If I insult you in any way, please forgive me...this is just another man's opinion...
You have very good lyrical delivery and you make your presence felt. I was compelled to listen more based on that aspect. You come across as an artist who likes to story tell. Which is a MUST to be a successful emcee in my book. You incorporate struggles in life, which in my opinion is the very aspect of hip hop: the struggle of man on the streets. Your style reminds me of Slug from Atmosphere. Who are your influences? Or are you influenced by just everything around you in general? You are on the right path of emceeing, fam. Big big ups to you. I'm a fan!
I love the beats as well. It seems as though your focus is in the message of your word. I always thought the beat should match the style of the emcee. Your lyrical style and what it contains is relevant to the beats I've heard. This tells me that you are well rounded as an artist. This is music.
I am also big on the aspect of how one's beats should just be the additive bonus to a song of lyrical genius! I love it when people put music out like that. It is easy for anyone to like a song based off of what they hear through the beat. That's why I think it is easy to like mainstream. All the music played over the radio or tv are bangers in the club. But what are the voices over these beats saying? Nothing relevant to hip hop, of course.
Funny thing is, you are in early development and there is always room for improvement. I wonder how your stage presence is...you got any live videos? I like to view emcees' composure and stamina on stage. I think it is righteous that an artist gives back to the fullest to their fans. It is a great way to size up an artist as a whole.
Sorry I'm talking your ears off. Real talk though, fam. Keep me
