Bio on the Sun Set Park, Brooklyn Underground Hip Hop Rap Artist “J. B.R. Hip Hop Artist “living the dream”. Hip hop was all I knew, it was all I ever wanted I remember getting into the drug game way back in the late 1980’s, you know I was buying cars, motor bikes, jewelry and spending mad loot on my boys if I had it, they had it, and anyone who knew me would tell nothing different. I was like now is the time to start investing on a career. Music is and was my goal that’s what I always wanted to do make music, speak it from the heart, so I went out started spending my illegal funds on studio equipment, shit I had this little ass room in Brooklyn. I did built a sound proof room in my bedroom that took most of my room I had all my studio equipment set up you know, I had dudes from the neighborhood that were into Hip Hop beats. They were also into making beats and so I had them come over and just knock out beats while I would drop lyrics on the paper. What started out with a little ass four track ended up with this twenty thousand dollar studio in Sunset Park Brooklyn. Back in the early 90’s I hooked up with Mark Wahlberg artist formally known as Marky Mark. I hooked up with him in the city we hung out the dude was down to earth seemed like a real dude to me. I was embarrassed to give them this demo I had, because he was already in the mainstream, but I gave it to him anyway to make a long story short he liked what he heard and flew me out to L.A. Mark was working with an artist Prince Ital Joe Reggae artist from L.A. so we started working together flying back and forth to Europe, Germany mostly with East West Records and started doing our thing he was teaching me a lot about the business. In middle of the 90’s mark formed the group “One Love” - so we did a remake of K.C. and the sunshine band Re-Mix “That’s the way we like it”. We started doing shows touring Europe (1995), we did another song “Feeling Irie” which was put on the O.S.T. for “Fear” (Mark Wahlberg & Reese Witherspoon). They all jerked One Love, anyone of us and now I know it is time to put the game face back on and do what I got to do - so I started to continue doing my music, started selling units through the internet which are good! I kept my foundation going and still continue till this day Hip Hop is my heart, Hip Hop is my soul, Hip Hop is me and I would never turn my back on the thing that was part of me, if I turned my back on my music then I’m turning my back on my peoples, my fans, my love and I will tell you I’m no fucking chump. I keep it real always have and always will. I speak from the heart and people who know me, the real “JBR “, will tell you the same JBR stand for “Just Be Real”. That’s what I do keep real!! I’m starting a new Website, I’m hooking up with my boy Luke from Coney Island, still keep in contact with my boys Rasta Phil and Ace. I continue to make my and my boy..s music, which are still down with me. They will grow with me as family, as a team, as real motherfuckers who wont let anything stand in our way, so if you know where I’m coming from you’ll know that JBR is JUST BEING REAL! Phillip Thomas, popularly known as ‘Rasta’ Phil was the mentor, co-producer, and spiritual advisor for many famous musical groups through the 80’s and 90’s, including New Kids on the Block, New Edition, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and more. This talented Trinidadian-born musical genius started his musical career as a popular local DJ in Boston, U.S.A. and soon became a force in the local musical scene. His original talents and positive lyrics became well known both internationally. His creative ideas and talent helped groom many local artists and kept them focused and grounded as they watched Phil developed the local music scene. Phil has also worked with top reggae artists including the Bob Marley family. ‘Firehouse’ debut CD is a must-have for all music lovers. It’s appropriately named after the house in Boston, Massachusetts where it all began. There was a lot of musical activity at the ‘Firehouse’. New Edition, New Kids on the Block, North side Boys, Mizzy Moe, MC Spice and Mark Wahlberg and the Funky Bunch to name a few! All mastered their musical talents at the ‘Firehouse’ in Boston. It is called the ‘Firehouse’ because the house was destroyed by fire. Rasta Phil was the brain behind the scenes as a mentor to many of these groups and many more unnamed artists. With encouragement and support from his musical friends, Rasta Phil has finally decided to give the public a taste of his music. The versatile singer and song writer has produced a debut Album that has something for all music fans. It has tracks from Reggae, Rap, Hip Hop, R & B, Rock, and Latin backgrounds. Mark Wahlberg, famed Hollywood actor and executive producer of ‘Entourage’ on HBO, and Eric Weinstein, a successful Hollywood manager and executive producer are the Executive Producers of Rasta Phil’s debut album. Mark Wahlberg is also featured on the interlude of the album in his own words, speaking candidly about his lifetime best friend Rasta Phil and the significance of his friendship to his life. 'Rasta Phil is the main ‘brethren’ who even fathomed the idea of me doing a rap album long before Hollywood came knocking” - Mark Wahlberg, Oscar nominated actor
