One Less Star brings a sound rarely heard in the Christian music scene with their unique blend of alternative rock and just a touch of the “Seattle Sound.” They want the audience to walk away knowing who the band is, and what they are about. One Less Star uses their gift of song to clearly say what needs to be said, and they mean it when they say it. It’s with this bold attitude that they touch on issues like depression, desperation, faithlessness, and self-worth.
Over the years their music has changed from light, acoustic, folk rock, to a message-based, overdriven, rock that is reminiscent of the Foo Fighters and the Goo Goo Dolls. One Less Star’s music has been described as intense, ardent, thought provoking, and brutally honest, but the word most-used to describe them is, “real.”
History of One Less Star:
One Less Star was formed out of a worship team at a church-plant in Guilderland, New York.
Jeff (Drumset) and Amanda Pitcher (Guitar, Keys, Vox) began writing their own songs when their worship team was invited to play a small concert at a deli in Syracuse, New York. Their songs were well-received and that enticed the duo to continue the writing process. In November 2007, One Less Star played their first original concert at a small coffee shop in Albany, New York.
Friends of the group, David Rydelnik and Brittany Rakoske, played bass intermittently for the first year until the band’s relocation to Amanda’s home town of Northville. It was there, where they began playing with bassist, Isaiah Philo, and the current incarnation of One Less Star was formed.
