Masa’s Movie Reviewz: Underdog & Rescue Dawn

Current mood:curious

Hello party pigs!

Well, I hope you had a grand weekend. I sure did! The yummy icing on the cake was yesterday, my hubbie and I went to the movies and saw two films. I love double features! And boy was this an odd pairing. Alright nuff intro, "There's no need to fear, UnderMasa is here!"

Underdog Movie Stills: Jason Lee, Jim Belushi, Alex Neuberger, Frederik Du Chau

Underdog, Dir. Frederik Dy Chau, 84 mins, Family film

Okay was I the only one excited to see this film? Hands!? Huh, I guess I was just me. I love Underdog! Maybe cuz he's got the best Saturday morning cartoon theme song or cuz I'm an underdog myself... enter violins. Well, when I was a little boy, my parents kept me in a cage... hm. I think I'm off track. Or drunk. Anywho... Underdog was a big mess. I wanted to like it and I laughed at moments that weren't really funny. The funniest part is Jim Belusi being casted as the captain of the Police Squad. Flying super dog, believable, Jim Belusi as a smart policeman, that's just silly. Another funny part was when my partner looked at me and said, "Why is the mad scientist so mad?" Funny, cuz it's true. He was really angry and yelling at everyone. Talk about stressful. Whatever, this film has already left my brain. Goodbye Underdog... Under who?

Okay Kiddies, I give this film 1 out of 5 bored Rosies. Jim Belushi...

Rescue Dawn Movie Stills: Christian Bale, Steve Zahn, Jeremy Davies, Werner Herzog

Rescue Dawn, Dir. Werner Herzog, 2 hr 6 mins, Drama

Oh Herzog... All my film nerd friends love, love, love Herzog. And I've seen about 5 of his films and I have to be honest, they vary in greatness. Some are amazing and some stink. Some are Underdog stinky. But what about Rescue Dawn? I must say, this film had a lot going against it for me: war film, Steven Zahn trying to play a serious role (yikes), sappy story... but that being said, this film is pretty great. Christian Bale keeps surprising me with his acting abilities. From Machinist to Batman to Rescue Dawn, his range is refreshing. This film is about him and Zahn trying to escape the jungle. But leeches, pounding rain, lack of food, oh and locals with machetes make the journey not so fun. Herzog is all about character analysis and this film is no different. One of my only negative judgement with this film is Bale's character is too cute. He's dying inside, but he's still smiling, giving away his shoes/food, and always taking care of Zahn. Anways, it's a good film, you should see it. Though a better ending would have been Bale falling off a cliff and suddenly, Underdog flying down and Rescues him. Now that's classy. And more realistic than Belushi as a cop. Man, what's with me and Belushi?

Okay kiddies, I give Herzog and his film 3.5 out of 5 Leech covered Rosies.

Have a great week everyone! And thanks for everyone who came to my little party. Y'all rock!

    Hey bro
Good Reviews, I think I'll eventually see Rescue Dawn, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SIMPSONS. GO SEE IT! THEN REVIEW IT. I liked it, but I have no idea how many Rosies it deserves. Thats where you come in.
