   The Torpedo's Blurbs
About me:
Years ago, Richard Booker's life was simple. He was a college student with an academic scholarship, and played football for the university team. Booker's coach wanted him to fumble the ball on purpose as part of a larger scheme to fix the score. Richard didn't fumble. The team won the game, and cost Marcel Larcone a lot of cash.
Larcone was once just a small time hustler & con man, but had grown into the rather profitable worlds of loan sharking and fixing bets. When Richard didn't throw the game, Larcone plotted his revenge. Figuring that Richard may be of use once he "got the message", Larcone instead went after Richard's father, Claud. Larcone's hired thugs beat Claud to a pulp and shot him three times. When Booker got home, he found his father in a pool of blood.
Claud Booker survived the attack. The massive amount of blood loss cause Claud's brain to be deprived of oxygen, and subsequently cost him his mental acuity. Richard's father, once a proud and strong man, must now be cared for 24/7 in a special care facility.
For a while, Richard Booker served in the armed forces, as his father once had. Eventually joining a special ops division, Booker became a skilled pilot in a variety of crafts. In his final mission, Richard and his team were betrayed by one of their own. Only Richard and one other team member survived.
Honorably discharged after this last mission, Richard was once again brought face to face with his decrepit father. Suddenly all the rage and guilt that Richard had avoided for years came flowing back in like a tide. It was time to do something. It was time to payback those who had done this.
At first, Richard wore a simple costume and mask only to hide his identity (and protect his father from further harm). But an old man with a shiny suitcase offered Richard something more. Inside the case was a prototype exploration suit. It was aerodynamic and had jets attached at the lower legs. There was an oxygen filter mask, and a wrist-mounted plasma weapon for clearing debris. It was perfect.
With this suit, Richard was able to cover more distance than ever before. People started noticing the flying man in the sky. The people of the city started having hope again. The papers and tv news all hailed him as a hero. The hospitals were flooded with wounded criminals and thugs, all murmuring the name TORPEDO (the name Richard told them, the name of an old WWII plane his father had flown in the war). Everyone in the city was convinced this Torpedo was a hero. Everyone except Richard Booker.
Richard Booker is a smart man, but he's no detective. After beating up hordes of hoodlums and thugs, he's still no closer to finding Larcone. But Richard Booker isn't the kind of man who gives up easily.

Who I'd like to meet:
Comic Fans! What people like about TORPEDO, is that he is so much more of an "everyman" than other vigilante characters. The man behind the mask isn't a millionaire playboy, or mutant outcast. He's just a guy. He works in a pawn shop, he doesn't make a lot of money, and he has to ride the BUS when he's not flying around as the Torpedo.
Rather than the typical routine where the protagonist is out for vengeance because his parents have been killed - in Torpedo, his father is still alive. Richard Booker must watch his once proud father reduced to behaving like a child. This serves as a constant reminder of Richard's mission as the Torpedo, and infuriates him each time he must see his father face-to-face.
This story has something for both fans of mainstream hero stories, as well as those who enjoy the slice-of-life quality of many indie books. Don't wait! Get a copy for yourself fromoneshotproductions.com!
