Biography
Melodious vocals, smooth electric lines and a strong groove characterise the soulful sound of West Australian based One Tiger Down(OTD).
"These guys know an absolute shit load about blues / soul / roots music.
You just can't fake this kind of thing."
-Jaymes Brown, Drum Media
Winning hearts and minds with their sweet collection of original songs, OTD returned to Sumo Studios in May 2009 to record their latest material. The collaboration with producer engineer Laurie McCallum (Boys Boys Boys and The Russian Winters) resulted in their new single ‘Bow & Arrow’. Set for release in Oct the single has captured the bigger sound of the now four piece and will build on the reputation their successful debut EP created.
Playing to a capacity crowd, OTD launched their debut self titled EP in late 2008 which sold out in local record stores shortly after.
Another sold out show at Mojos in March 2009 for the film clip premiere of ‘Wise Yung Yu’ and its inclusion on the Western Australian Music Industry’s ‘Kiss My WAMi 09’ compilation are indicators that One Tiger Down’s EP has perhaps been a roaring success.
“…a relaxed and impressive set with strong lounge vibes left more than a few wishing the set would go on longer.”
- Jason Kenny, Drum Media
The four boys first met in the hallways of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) but it wasn’t until 2 years later after diversifying into genres such as rock, roots and funk, that OTD was formed.
Following numerous tours to the South West and a loyal following growing in Perth, in early June 2009, OTD set their sights on the East coast and played a string of shows in Melbourne. With some of the members having never left Perth before, OTD returned from a flourishing Melbourne music scene with a stronger live performance and an itch for further tours after having had the time of their lives.
With 2009 yielding so much for One Tiger Down, the boys are looking to 2010 with anticipation. More South West shows, a return tour to Melbourne and Sydney, a road trip up the North West coast of WA and new material for their number one album are all in the works, so in 2010, keep your Eye on the Tiger.

One Tiger Down's debut EP challenges a time
where there seems to be no right or wrong...
as long as you follow the rules...
or you have the money to break them.
Gamble with love and death.
