One Vibe Reggae was formed in concept while I was at a Yellowman show at The Asheville Music Zone in 2002. It was the most poorly presented show I had ever attended: there was no DJ; there should have been an opener; I saw no posters advertising the show; there was no vibe. I sat around listening to Bob Marley's Legend album playing on repeat, and thought to myself, "This could have been a cool show."
The first show One Vibe Reggae was involved with was in presenting Midnite at The Grey Eagle in 2003 - Inamalek was the opener, with Deep Roots Sound spinning. There were posters all over town, vendors in the entry hall, and a vibe flowed throughout the building. People were not just coming out for a performance, they came out to participate in an event.
Since 2003, One Vibe Reggae has collaborated in presenting some of the best reggae shows Asheville has ever seen. Some of the artists we have presented in Asheville include Luciano, Midnite, Niyorah, Everton Blender, Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars, Telepath, Capleton, Culture, Groundation, Richie Spice, and Anthony B. Whether the artists hail from Jamaica, Africa, the Virgin Islands, or the continental U.S., we have established Asheville as a desired location for every reggae tour considering a venture through the South Eastern United States.
Peace & Blessings, Family.
