born into the lovely environs of suburban lands lying to the east of los angeles, and raised on frozen food, meat and the religious right, eric tucker, aka wiseacre, currently finds himself happily free yet equally inspired by it all. living in the seaside republic of venice for 18 years, wiseacre initially established a successful career as a commercial/fine art photgrapher. in 2003, he decided to pick up some vinyl, a couple of turntables, a mixer, two speakers and a few friends in order to begin the labor of love we call “throwin’ parties”. since this time, wiseacre has put his love for photography on hold and co-created two very successful LA parties, FUNKY IN THE MIDDLE and CUSTOM SUNDAZE. He has hosted and played along side such talents as NICKODEMUS, LOUIE VEGA, OSUNLADE, MARK FARINA, ZEB, NAPPY G, MR. SCRUFF, QUANTIC, MARQUES WYATT, KING BRITT, MAD MATS, SIMBAD, FORT KNOX FIVE, J BOOGIE, MAKOSSA + MEGABLAST, MARK RAE, FEDERICO AUBELE, DJ DAY, SABO, THE PIMPS OF JOYTIME, DJ VADIM, MARK DE CLIVE LOWE, VIKTER DUPLAIX, 7 SAMURAI, SCOTT K, RAUL CAMPOS, PLEASUREMAKER, ED ROYAL, CULVER CITY DUB COLLECTIVE, SAKE ONE, DAZ-I-KUE, AFROKINETIC, DJ DRM, TAL M KLEIN, YOSAKU, INKA ONE and JEREMY SOLE. Currently, wiseacre is looking to open a venue in NYC where he will be able to continue his quest to bridge genres of music and people and build a scene that is not exclusive or segmented, but rather one that simply appreciates “good music”. the tunes wiseacre chooses to share is deep and wide…. from brooklyn to the balkans, from south america to sweden, from house, to disco, to afro-latin broken beat and dub… in short, wiseacre loves good music, his lovely wife-to-be rae and daughter zoe.
About me: i'm not an exciting young man looking for a cute boy or girl. i'm not young. i am somewhat nice, but could be taken for a wiseacre. i am utterly confused about which coast is better.... the left or the right. so for this reason i drag my lovely fiancee back and forth from LA to NYC. i love only a few things in this brief spot in history. i love my daughter, who is an elevated nine. i love my sugar rae who will one day be my better half. i love the act of creation, and yes procreation is good too. i love pictures. i love all food without a face. i dislike television. i love good music, and prefer not to listen to bad music. i love community, despise exclusivity. george bush is bad. bjork is good. wallpaper is very good. linoleum is slick. turntables-on-the-hudson is the world's greatest weekly party. LES is more. venice is sweet. chocolate is nearly as sweet, but my sugar is definitely the sweetest. vinyl is better than mp3's. a dj need not scratch. pizza on the right side of the country is better than the left. everyone should try burningman, tofu, tolerance, SUNDAZE AND FUNKY IN THE MIDDLE..... at least once. pink will change your life. indie rock is still cool, progressive house still sucks. happiness is a choice. keep your FUNKY IN THE MIDDLE moving at all times.
