About me:
Do you want to read through the entire Bible in one year?  We would like to encourage you to join us on this life-changing journey through God's Word! This encouragement to you is offered in two simple ways: 1. The daily One Year Bible blog's commentary, reflections, images and questions. 2. Our free weekly e-mails filled with commentary, encouragement, images and questions.

Visit us also at www.OneYearBibleBlog.com

In 2009 you are invited to join us in reading the Bible for 15 minutes each day! We have over 7,159 people in 55 counries throughout the world who are participating with us. - and we hope you can join us!  Please bookmark this website in your browser, sign up for our weekly emails so that you are on the email list, and then start reading with us today! Note that our readings will start again at the beginning of the Bible on January 1, 2009 - however, we recommend you start with today's calendar date of readings, and then circle back in early 2009 to read the remainder of the readings that we've already gone through this year. You could try to play-catch up - but skipping ahead to today's calendar date of readings is more realistic, and then early next year we'll circle back to the readings you've already missed this year.

We will be following the One Year Bible plan with 15 minute daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms & Proverbs. You can use your own Bible or you can pick up a Tyndale One Year Bible. (Please note that we are not using a Chronological Bible plan - but instead are doing a mix of Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms & Proverbs each day.) You can join us on this One Year Bible journey using whichever translation of the Bible you prefer: NLT, NIV, KJV, ESV, TNIV, NKJV, The Message, etc.

I do recommend you pick up a Tyndale Publishers "One Year Bible For New Believers" rather than using a traditional Bible if possible. This Tyndale version nicely organizes each day's readings for you: OT, NT, Psalms, Proverbs. You don't need to flip around all over a Bible each day to find the daily verses.  The "New Believers" edition of the One Year Bible has a great daily reflection and notes for each day's readings.  Please know that the "New Believers" edition is great for "old" Believers too!  :)  However, again, you are very welcome to use your own Bible or you can always follow along with the daily readings .. at this One Year Bible MySpace page.

Sign up for the One Year Bible Blog free Weekly e-mail! Sign up today and you will receive weekly e-mails of commentary, encouragement, images and questions for reflection as you go through the One Year Bible with us.  Thousands of people have found these weekly emails to be a great source of encouragement to keep reading throughout the year. There is no cost to you for any of this - it's free!

To sign up for the One Year Bible Blog weekly e-mails, simply type in your email in the box below, click Subscribe, and then make sure you respond to the confirmation email that will be automatically sent to you.

I do encourage you to consider friends or relatives or church congregation members that you might want to invite along on this One Year Bible journey as well?  Please feel free to share this website with others!  If you have a church website or a personal blog you are very welcome to link to this website.  I do encourage you to consider including information about this website in your church bulletins in December of each year.  Also, I encourage you to consider "championing" the One Year Bible at your church by encouraging others to join you on the journey.  Sometimes people simply need someone like you from their church to encourage them to read God's Word each day!

Will you consider starting up a One Year Bible small group at your church in 2008?  The "New Believers" edition of the One Year Bible is perfect for small groups - as is "The One Year Bible Companion".

Bio of this One Year Bible Blogger: Overall, please know that this blog is not about me - it's about God and it's about each of us learning from God's Word each and every day. I pray this blog simply helps facilitate this process for each of us in some small way.  My bio - I am a Christian who has discovered that reading and studying the Bible every day is absolutely life-transforming. 2008 will be my 6th One Year Bible journey, so I'm learning some things about the Bible as I go. I do have so much more to learn.  I try to write on this blog keeping two things in mind: 1. A call to holiness in our lives. 2.  Grace.  I try to find the balance of these two in my own life and in the writings in this blog and in the weekly e-mails. I have an evangelical faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I'm in my mid 30's and was raised in a liturgical Christian church. 6 years ago I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at a nondenominational evangelical church.  A statement of my faith includes The Apostles Creed.  I hope this is enough of a bio?  God's bio in the Bible is so much more interesting than mine!  :)

Thank you for stopping by this website!  Please come back often.  I will be posting up on a daily basis.  Don't forget to bookmark this website in your browser - and sign up for the weekly email below too! Also, please click on "Add to Friends" to the left and add "One Year Bible" to your Top 8 to help spread the word about this One Year Bible MySpace site to your friends! Thanks!

Who I'd like to meet:
I look forward to journeying through the One Year Bible with you!  God bless you!

Happy New Year

Colossians 3:1-17
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

"Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."—Isaiah 7:14.

Let us to-day go down to Bethlehem, and in company with wondering shepherds and adoring Magi, let us see Him who was born King of the Jews, for we by faith can claim an interest in Him, and can sing, "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given." Jesus is Jehovah incarnate, our Lord and our God, and yet our brother and friend; let us adore and admire. Let us notice at the very first glance His miraculous conception. It was a thing unheard of before, and unparalleled since, that a virgin should conceive and bear a Son. The first promise ran thus, "The seed of the woman," not the offspring of the man. Since venturous woman led the way in the sin which brought forth Paradise lost, she, and she alone, ushers in the Regainer of Paradise. Our Saviour, although truly man, was as to His human nature the Holy One of God. Let us reverently bow before the holy Child whose innocence restores to manhood its ancient glory; and let us pray that He may be formed in us, the hope of glory. Fail not to note His humble parentage. His mother has been described simply as "a virgin," not a princess, or prophetess, nor a matron of large estate. True the blood of kings ran in her veins; nor was her mind a weak and untaught one, for she could sing most sweetly a song of praise; but yet how humble her position, how poor the man to whom she stood affianced, and how miserable the accommodation afforded to the new-born King!Immanuel, God with us in our nature, in our sorrow, in our lifework, in our punishment, in our grave, and now with us, or rather we with Him, in resurrection, ascension, triumph, and Second Advent splendour.
~ Charles H. Spurgeon

The opposition is directing people away from God every day on TV, radio, in movies, magazines, on the Internet and in popular music.

We have to fight back!

Here is a simple way you can share the Word of God with others:

www.just33minutes.com

Post this address all over the Internet and curious people will click to a simple explanation of God, the Bible and the value of attending a Christian church.

Print the address on business cards and pass them out wherever you go. Make posters and put them up wherever you can. Share the address with everyone in your network of friends and family.

This is yet another tool to help you find and save the lost.

"The Harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."
Matthew 9:37

Be one of the few. Spread the Word.

Merry Christmas!!
"An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."-Luke 2:9-14

John 6:27-37
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Romans 8:33-39

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 75
1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

"The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with My disciples?"—Mark 14:14.

JERUSALEM at the time of the passover was one great inn; each householder had invited his own friends, but no one had invited the Saviour, and He had no dwelling of His own. It was by His own supernatural power that He found Himself an upper room in which to keep the feast. It is so even to this day—Jesus is not received among the sons of men save only where by His supernatural power and grace He makes the heart anew. All doors are open enough to the prince of darkness, but Jesus must clear a way for Himself or lodge in the streets. It was through the mysterious power exerted by our Lord that the householder raised no question, but at once cheerfully and joyfully opened his guestchamber. Who he was, and what he was, we do not know, but he readily accepted the honour which the Redeemer proposed to confer upon him. In like manner it is still discovered who are the Lord's chosen, and who are not; for when the gospel comes to some, they fight against it, and will not have it, but where men receive it, welcoming it, this is a sure indication that there is a secret work going on in the soul, and that God has chosen them unto eternal life. Are you willing, dear reader, to receive Christ? then there is no difficulty in the way; Christ will be your guest; His own power is working with you, making you willing. What an honour to entertain the Son of God! The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, and yet He condescends to find a house within our hearts! We are not worthy that He should come under our roof, but what an unutterable privilege when He condescends to enter! for then He makes a feast, and causes us to feast with Him upon royal dainties, we sit at a banquet where the viands are immortal, and give immortality to those who feed thereon. Blessed among the sons of Adam is he who entertains the angels' Lord. ~ Charles H. Spurgeon
