With a little bit of Rock and a little bit of Roll,
a little bit of Blues and a little bit of Soul
Oneyesblue’s unique blend of popular music
has bought them to the fore-front of the Midlands music scene
Oneyesblue, although under three years old, have some great achievements
to boast. The band have recently supported the likes of ;
The Thrills, The Zutons, Maximo Park, The Maccabees, Mohair, Jack Penate, Tiny Dancers,
OK GO, Biffy Clyro, The Holloways, Two Gallants, Goldrush
amongst many others.
In December '06, Oneyesblue self released their debut EP "The Basement Blues Sessions" through their own label Sleeveless Records. This EP has since sold out and is only available through download sites. Oneyesblue have recently travelled to SXSW in Austin, Texas and have sent representatives to the Midem Festival in France to promote their material on a wider scale.
Oneyesblue, still in their early 20's, draw upon influences from all over. Their
sound has evolved from listening to Rock and Roll, Folk, Blues, Soul, Pop &
Country music and admire bands and artists such as Crosby Stills and Nash,
Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, Ben E. King, The Stray Cats, Blondie, Neil Young, Son House, Dexy's, Steve Earle, Jonathan Richman.
REVIEWS
*"I love the songs you guys have up on your myspace page! keep up the great songwriting!" Tony Hoffer - Producer (The Kooks, The Fratellis, The Rumble Strips, The Thrills, Beck etc)
*"Future Sounds comes from India this month, amongst the smoke from smoldering Jade Goody effigies. Meanwhile, in the UK winter has apparently outstayed its welcome if this month's two C&W/blues offerings are anything to go by. These two bands are a gloriously long way from the gak and burnt crack bottles of skinny'ditch.
First up are the immaculately named Oneyesblue, consisting of another pair of Stoddart siblings, how many do we need? I guess we'll just say 'when'. Here we get a genuine blues voice, like shoveled gravel. Despair and blurred regret are all present and correct, along with harmonica and jail breaks into the moonlight; you can almost smell the stale beer and bruised timber bar."

*ONEYESBLUE: The Basement Blues Sessions VERDICT: *****
THE debut EP from the Midlands band who have been making quite an impression with their live appearances at the Barfly. Featuring bar room Blues and Americana, the only complaint is that, with three of the four tracks less than two and a half minutes long, it's over far too soon. We now await the album!
