all musicians are welcome...bring your own instruments and jam anytime in the cafe-bar, or make use of our rehearsal room, (£10 pound for 1 hour rehersal time).
If you would like to play on a Friday night, or Saturday or get involved in other events in the week please feel free to contact us. You'll find us happy to give you a go not matter what the style .... there are no music or style snobs here!!
Or YOU can organise, arrange, and host YOUR OWN EVENTS at The Glass Onion....just speak to one of the staff....they'll give you all the help you'll need....

We have our FREE Sunday movie night. We show a massive variety of films....and YOU get to vote on what to watch....as well as being able to bring in your own films (VHS or DVD)....Open film starts at 6pm, our Feature Presentation begins at 8pm, and then Open film again until the Volunteers want to go home....
OR you can host your own film night event (just like Joe has with his Bjork Night) ... maybe you have a favourite director .... or you're desperate for everyone to see some long forgotten trilogy .... it's YOUR film night, so come and make it happen!!

It takes a huge amount of effort to run this amazing building and it is always in need of people with all sorts of skills. A helping hand, whether 10 minutes or 10 hours, is always gladly taken....if you would like to help then please pop in and chat to one of the Onioneers. We particularly need help with manning the cafe-bar, maintainence work, admin type stuff, flyers and promotion, cleaning, and garden work.
We regretfully announce that The Glass Onion will be closing for the foreseeable future and with immediate effect. The organisers are unable to continue with the project in its current format and so the decision has be made to withdraw.
All upcoming performances and events have been cancelled with the exception of those events that we are already firmly committed to, which are listed below.
More information will be posted here and on our website as and when it becomes available and we thank you for your patience. We are sorry for any inconvenience and would like to thank everyone involved in the glass onion for their support.

The Glass Onion is a building unlike any other....a Music and Arts community centre, on Burghley Road in Peterborough....entirely independent of any business, political or religious groups....entirely non-profit (all of our profit pays the rent, the bills, the overheads, and the upkeep, along with materials and random building bits and bobs...)....we're also run ENTIRELY BY UNPAID VOLUNTEERS....people JUST LIKE YOU!!!!.....
Along with an Cafe/Bar/Community Space there is also an arts studio, a huge peace garden, a music recording studio, band rehearsal room, life drawing classes, dj workshops, acoustic and open mic Fridays, cabaret, poetry nights, children's playgroups, hip hop nights, quiz nights(every Monday from 9pm), jazz nights, women's only evenings, free movie nights (Sunday from 7pm), drum workshops (Fridays from 5pm), games nights (Thursdays from 4pm), special needs music workshops, young offender intervention workshops, union meetings, refugee meetings, theatre workshops, summer sounds sessions, a Glass Onion Philharmonic Orchestra....the list goes on and on..... We also serve Peterborough's largest selection of Fairtrade and Organic tea (herbal and normali-tea), coffee, hot chocolate, juices, and cordials (new in ... organic ginger, organic blueberry, & organic elderflower cordials) .... along with Organic beers and ales from all over the UK .... largely from independant and family run breweries. Our wine is also Organic and/or Fairtrade as we believe in promoting cleaner and more sustainable farming practices, and in paying a fair and living wage to those who produce the produce that we enjoy.
We're open to all and all are welcome.... and YOU can come and take control, help to organise events, shape the building, lend a hand, host workshops....it's YOUR COMMUNITY CENTRE!!!
You don't even have to spend any money to enjoy the space .... as long as you feel relaxed and safe, we'll be happy ....
