Here are some reviews for our current EP "Read What's In Between"":
"...their lyrics blew me away. "Drawing Lines" is the standout track of the album. Listening to it, you can feel the despair, vocally and lyrically. Heavyweight breakdowns compliment strong lyrics concerning political unrest,
discontentedness with the scene and a general sense of impending doom. I'm growing angry and feeling hopeless just listening to this. That's alright; if music can get a strong reaction out of me or change my mood, I deem it worth listening to. The basslines are heavy and melodic; this album is a tornado of sound! The cd moves along fast, with 8 tracks smashed into twenty minutes..." Mohawkradio.com
"Modern hardcore from the west of Ireland. Short, punchy songs with huge hooks and blistering riffs. They've got the epic intro that makes you launch your beer twelve feet in the air down cold. The vocals are belted out by someone named "Momme" who never lets up and seldom slows down the songs. Slot them between Trail of Dead and The Refused without the theatrics." www.razorcake.org
"Only Fumes & Corpses are perhaps the best hardcore band I've heard in a long time.....great political hardcore band who sound almost exactly as now sadly-defunct I Adapt from Iceland, that is to say, raging hardcore riffs, impassioned vocals and lyrics and a few group-shout vocals thrown in to keep it crucial, as one might say at a gig of theirs.......ike a breath of fresh air in a genre that can be over-populated with badly-played copyist bands, the lyrics here are nothing new, but have such a fantastic delivery you can't help but play the songs again to hear them resound." www.ninehertz.co.uk
"..hurtling through some of the most legit metal-influenced hardcore (read: not ’metalcore’) I’ve heard in a few years. The guitars are surprisingly melodic but have bite enough to spare, and they tread the line between with a deftness that’s nothing short of impressive. Recommended without reservation." Zero Tolerance Magazine
"...a mixture of punk power with strong metallic overtones that pushes forward a strong rock feel. There is also a dissonant dirge that adds a moody feeling to the music. The guitarist doesn’t rely on the basic power chord treatment. He adds more by playing with the notes creating textures and emotions. The production values are spot on and that brings’ forth the music with the right amount of energy and clarity. "Profane Existance 57
“…hooked before the end of the first song. Their energetic and melodic style of hardcore hits somewhere in between American Nightmare and Sick of It All and will leave you out of breath before the disc finishes. In a time when metal is being passed off as hardcore, a band like Only Fumes & Corpses is a more than welcome addition to the scene…… and if a record deal doesn't come their way in the future I may just lose what little faith I have left in the hardcore scene. " - unboundzine.com
“…brings to mind Minor Threat, "This Just Might Be The Truth"-era Refused and Comeback Kid…..OF&C certainly seem to have what It takes to stand against the current surge of new hardcore bands coming through. This could well be their time." powerplay magazine
"Only Fumes geben richtig Gas und ballern dir ein Pfund aus
TRAGEDY, SECTION 8 und GIVE UP THE GHOST um die
Ohren. Auf den Punkt gebrachter Hardcore mit entsprechend
aggressivem Gesang und fetten Riffs der beiden Gitarristen,
die des öfteren in den Chorgesang einstimmen. Erstklassiges
Songwriting, gepaart mit wütenden Texten über Gesellschaft
und Establishment, dazu eine gut gemachte Eigenproduktion
- D.I.Y. in Perfektion." - OX-FANZINE 74 (ZM)
"Unlike a great deal of punk and (gasp) even hardcore, Galway's
Only Fumes And Corpses have injected their music with two
things vital to being in any way relevant: actual musical talent,
and a real sense of ire. There's also a healthy metallic tang
to what they do as well, a constantly high tempo and a feeling
of real energy."- METALIRELAND.COM (CT)
"This is the classic hardcore approach of heads down, pummeling
riffs, 100mph drums, and shout yourself hoarse vocals. It's
exciting stuff but would wear thin quickly were it not for the
touches of light and shade throughout. There is a lot of metal
influences which adds drama to the EP, vocalist Momme always
sounds as if his life depends on it, while 'Drawing Lines' stands
out for it's sudden change in tempo – showing that Only Fumes
& Corpses think outside the box. Only Fumes & Corpses have
delivered a satisfying EP and can hold their head high among the
Irish hardcore scene."-GALWAY ADVETISER (KA)
"Southern Ireland doesn’t exactly have a legacy of ripping
hardcore bands, so it was a real surprise to get this rip-roaring
disc. Eight songs of explosive hardcore with super heavy production.
In the same world as bands like ENDSTAND or even early REFUSED
with swirling guitar leads and hoarse vocals, but adding the
down-tuned heaviness of FROM ASHES RISE. This is one of the best European hardcore records I’ve heard in ages…..The lyrics are a little simplistic, but the music is hammering. Track this down."
-MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL (TB)
"....These jagged little bombs have a metallic twang about them and an overdriving sense of melody but do so in a way that recalls the likes of Minor Threat in a pitched brawl with Sick Of It All. There's a rapid fire emergency behind numbers like 'Spineless' which are shot out with a yob laden backbone of gang shouts and agit-prop immediacy.
This sounds as though it has crawled out of the early 90s' and this lot would have caused a stage diving frenzy if they had been around to share the stage with the likes of Snuff, Leatherface and Les Thugs. 'Drawing Lines' is the best here with a memorable chorus hollered through its more doom-laden melody....

"hailing from Ireland, OFAC is modern hardcore. passionate, fast and furious.
reminds me a lot of ModernLifeIsWar if there were songs, know what i mean?
heavy, well recorded and all around well done. for those who spend a fair time around this label/distro, this could also be compared to Protestant if we/they were more melodic. comes in a nice digipak to boot. really really good. dont miss out!"
Halo Of Flies
"... this Irish mob actually write some really impressive melodic hardcore in the vein of bands like Sick of it All. There's a raucous energy which so many bands cannot seem to capture on CD, while the songs whizz by in the blink of an eye..." punktastic.com
"...Read Between The Lines" is an unsung Punk/Hardcore gem. 8 tracks, not much more than 20 minutes of sheer passion and power. High point of the whole frantic thing is "Drawing Lines" for its tempo change and its effect on a live audience, think demented and joyous survivors of a noise bomb. These guys are a force to be reckoned with and unlike a great many hardcore outfits there is more to OFAC than mindless noise, they can lay claim to musical talent. There is no weak link in the band, they can all play. The sound is hard driven but they never resort to killing their instruments to achieve it and singer Momme has a voice that was forged in an industrial vat somewhere designed to pump bile and raw emotion in equal measure... " ....'Five Days' starts off slow before rocketing into the urgent Comeback Kid-style verses. 'Spineless' takes Against Me! to task about fucking over on their climb to MTV...... The songs are shed of anything that can slow them down. Every part of them needs to be there. If it was a boxing match, there'd be no fancy footwork. Just a punch in the face. Great stuff." Night Of The Locust 4 Zine
