Only Human is an up and coming pop/rock/Christian band whose music sends a positive message. Most recently, some of the band’s members (Alexis, Kevin and Jim) appeared on a compilation CD ‘Serenity House’ alongside some popular international artists such as: ASIA, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge, and Annie Haslam of Renaissance.
Only Human band members include: Alexis Hoover (lead vocals/guitar/keyboards), Grace Stiles (vocals), Kevin Mackie (bass), Jim Czerpak (drums) and Les Reisz (lead guitar).
Alexis Hoover, at the age of 17, joined the Paul Green School of Rock in Downingtown where she learned how to play the drums. Even though Alexis has her own unique style of singing, her audiences have compared her to Natalie Merchant and the Bangles.
In the summer of 2005 Alexis recorded her very first solo album ‘Free to Fly’ where she sang, played guitar, piano and percussion. She even had the opportunity to write a song with Bill DiLuigi entitled ‘So Right’ which received radio air play. The next year, Alexis made her first TV appearance on WGCB TV 49 where she performed three songs promoting the Mountain Jam festival in Genesee, PA. A couple months later Alexis joined the band ‘Think of 3’ playing guitar and keyboards. Alexis, Kevin, and Jim from ‘Think of 3’ have now formed the band ‘Only Human.’
In 2007, Alexis’ song ‘Somewhere’ appears on the Serenity House CD to benefit the building of a hospice in Doylestown PA. To promote the CD, Alexis was seen on PBS channel 39 with Grover Silcox, popular Philadelphia region personality. Alexis and Kevin (bass player from Only Human) can now be heard world wide due to international sales.
Kevin Mackie is the bass player of Only Human. He also plays guitar and is one of the bands songwriters. He has been seen on Fox TV (with Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge), appeared on WGCB TV 49 to promote the Mountain Jam festival, interviewed on WXPN radio and PBS 39, WNJC and others, and produced benefit CDs with many international artists. In the past he has played at Musikfest with Steve Pullara and his Cool Beans Band.
Les Reisz’s guitar playing is heavily influenced by Chet Atkins and Phil Keaggy. Les plays a variety of stringed instruments including: Folk, Classical, 12-string, and electric guitars. He also plays upright bass and mandolin. He is an active member of the Delaware Valley Finger Style Guitar Association.
Grace Stiles achievements include, performing with Peter Nero with the Philly Pops at the Kimmel center since 2004.
Quotes
Annie Haslam:
When I first heard Alexis sing at the 'Serenity House Benefit Concert', I was most impressed. Here was a multi-talented young woman, with a gentle innocent yet strong voice, fronting a rock band (Think of Three). At first it seemed that this odd combination might not work, but I was proved wrong. I can see in her a raw talent unfolding, with a natural ease and strong desire that will surely take her to great heights as a successful singer/songwriter. Alexis penned the words and music to the song 'Somewhere' which is currently a big favorite of mine and can be heard on the 'Serenity House' CD.
I recommend her highly!

Mason Lokia:
The combination of haunting melody; Alexis' steady, solid, plaintive vocal; the repetition of the word "somewhere"; and the lack of theatrics evoke a primal chord. I feel an overpowering need to have family and loved ones about to counter the song's stark loneliness. I recognize that feeling of sorrow; it's what I felt the night of the CD party the first time I heard you perform this. It's very moving.

Tim Celfo:
Alexis Hoover's voice rings pure like a bell. Her songs reach out and grab your ear and stay swimming gently around your head, in a good way. Her professionalism in the studio and on the stage rivals the greats in her class. Her vision to produce beauty is strong yet her ability to blend and compromise with other musicians is truly inspiring.

Bill DiLuigi:
Lexi Hoover's voice is unique and haunting; at times soulful, at times fragile, but always real. It is perfect for her melody driven songs.

Edwin Metzner:
Les’ guitar playing is superb. It is such a treat to see someone who is so accomplished and versatile, and plays with obvious enthusiasm on their part. I have been attending the Philadelphia folk Festival for 20+ years. Les has a quality that surpasses many of the acts I have seen there.

Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord!
1 Corinthians 15:55-56 NLT
Jesus lives, and so shall I: Death, thy sting is gone forever! He for me hath deigned to die, lives the bands of death to sever. He shall raise me from the dust: Jesus is my hope and trust.
