About Ayo
I'm a radio DJ for 102.1 The Edge in Dallas, TX
I'm the music director for 102.1 The Edge. That means I work as a direct assistant for the guy that makes the big decisions about kdge music, not make them myself! He is really cool though, and I think he believes that I know what Im talking about when it comes to rawk.
I host the local show on Sunday nights from 11pm-Midnight. Check the blog for more. Yes, you can post your flyers here.
I am the program director for The Edge's HD-2 station, The Cutting Edge...its kickass. It plays 70% currents..lots of more indie-based alternative, like Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Anti-Flag, Alkaline Trio, and lots more. You need a reciever that can pick up the HD-2 band on FM to hear it...but after that, its free! I beg you to give it a shot, especially if you like the way the Edge was way back in the day! It's more like that.
About Renee
I am a Jane-of-All-Trades, if I do say so myself.
I write local Dallas stuff for ENVY Magazine & envymags.com (link to: http://www.envymags.com), like bar and restaurant reviews, music and band news, stuff on the arts, local events and the like.
I also sling drinks at Capitol Pub (link to http://www.capitolpubdallas.com) on Henderson (journalism rarely pays the bills y’all).
I am a roller derby girl—for The Slaughterers, a team in the Dallas Derby Devils (link to http://www.derbydevils.com) league—but I’m on the injured list for the time being, boo!
I volunteer for a kick-ass place called CARE (link to http://www.bigcatcare.org), where Ayo can be found on any random weekend as well. CARE is a rescue and rehabilitation center for exotic cats (read: lions, tigers, cougars, leopards, etc.) and it’s like heaven on earth for the two of us. We host tours so give us a shout if you ever want to see the big cats!
In my free time, which I assure you is not very much time, I like to ride bicycles, get inked, listen to music, drink beer (Lone Star, yum!) and play with Photoshop as if I were a real designer. I miss Deep Ellum, I heart local bands and local comedians and my favorite color is green. I think that’s all I got for ya folks...
