Traditional English folksong, especially harmony singing like the Threlfall sisters and Eileen McGann, country singers like Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash, plus modern singer/songwiters like Pete Morton and Richard Shindell.
Dave's comedy material is influenced by folk/comedy writers like Jeremy Taylor, the more serious by writers like Roy Harper and Bob Dylan.

A bit of a hybrid of all the influences listed in the last section
Dave and Julia Taylor have been singing together for about ten years now, having decided to phase out teaching careers gradually, and do more music.
Julia sings and plays English concertina, guitar and is learning the fiddle. They live in Groby. just north of Leicester.
Dave sings harmony, and plays guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and is learning 5 string banjo and accordion. Although we are rooted in folk and play at many folk clubs and festivals, we also like country music and stray over into pop occasionally. We prefer to do songs that other people don't do that much, but which we think ought to be better known. Hence, our album was called "Just Good Songs" and we are working on one called "More Good Songs". If it's a good song, we'll have a go at it no matter what genre.
Dave also writes songs which are mainly of a comic/satirical nature, although some are more serious, and we sometimes do a set which alternates between serious and not so serious songs, though Dave sometimes does solo gigs. He has released 3 solo CDs called "Under the Baseball Cap", "The Melodeons are Coming" and "Gobbindownmimobile". We are in the process of getting the CDs professionally mastered to reflect the fact that we are spending more time on our music.
