Jason's Interests
|
| General | Golf, contradancing, judging mock trial competitions, leading children's worship, and television. Yes, a lot of television. | | Music | I actually haven't listened to the radio in a few years. It seemed that the trends when I departed were drifting towards a lot of shouting. Music needs to fit the mood. For example, up-beat music is necessary when running, the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter soundtracks make great background music when you need to focus. I used them frequently while preparing for trials. Now, they work quite well when I'm on the driving range. | | Movies | Lord of the Rings, Shawshank Redemption, To Kill a Mockingbird, Good Night and Good Luck, Little Miss Sunshine. I'm pretty picky when it comes to movies, even though I enjoy a big action flick from time to time. But, just because I enjoyed it, doesn't mean I think it's a good movie.
I left Harry Potter off this list (even though I watch them repeatedly) just because I love the books that much more. | | Television | Lost, Heroes, and House are my shows that I will actually set the VCR to make sure I don't miss. Prison Break and 24 are the best shows in terms of stretching the limits to suspend your disbelief. More generally, any show with smart, appealing characters who think.
A special place in my heart will always go to Buffy. I look to the West Wing for inspiration. I sadly lament the passing of Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. Those two shows made Tuesday night an extraordinary night of television.
The rest is ESPN related. | | Books | Harry Potter, Lee Strobel, Bible, and lately I have been getting into this Pop Culture and Philosophy series. You won't be happy if you read Al Gore's latest book regardless if you agree or disagree with him. | | Heroes | Jesus, Atticus Finch, Buffy Summers, Jed Bartlet. That is quite a group of liberals, huh? |

About me:
A lawyer who watches too much television. Besides that, I love dancing and golf. Want more? You can find it if you look hard enough, but that's what there is on the surface.
I'm one of the few liberals left in this state and I don't mind being in the minority, although I hope that will change soon. I love a good conversation and/or debate.
I am looking to make some changes in my life. My faith is central to everything and it should be evident in how we treat others. If there are other things that get in the way of Christ showing through me, I need to rid myself of those obstacles. I fear that I'm disappointing Him.
A chat is always welcome.

Who I'd like to meet:
Barack Obama is getting more interesting to me. I really have a lot of respect for Hilary Clinton. I hope one of them becomes President one day. Generally, I love to watch people who are the best at what they do perform at the peak of their craft.
