Influences
Pick a good guitar band from the last half century and the chances are we have a CD by them somewhere. Seriously. Beatles, Buddy Holly, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Costello, The Specials, Madness, The Pixies, Nirvana, Weezer, NoFX, The Smashing Pumpkins and on and on. Influences are always changing but the mainstays are the Wildhearts, RX Bandits, The Deftones, Bad Religion, Goldfinger, dEUS. Plus all the fantastic bands from the UK punk scene.
Where We have Been: As 3dBs Down we notched up 300+ shows in 5 years including shows with RX Bandits, Sonic Boom 6, Spunge, Lightyear, Captain Everything and a spot at Wasted Festival 2006, 6 national tours including with Adequate 7, the Fight and a run on the legendary 3 way dance, 2 highly acclaimed LPs and an EP, so many compilations, appearances in Kerrang, Rock Sound and Big Cheese and even a spin on the Radio 1 Lock-Up. We changed the name because after saying the old one that many times, then repeating it, then explaining it, then trying to describe it, then having to write it down and having people still getting it wrong it was something we really wanted to do. Plus being grammatically incorrect for so long can get you down. So things are changing. We are On The Turn
Where We Are: Working feverishly at album 3. More melodies, more harmonies, more rock. Bigger, Better, Stronger, Louder. Sucking in every influence we can get our ears too (good and bad). 3 voices. Rotating lead and backing. Drums that pound and groove. Words of contention in sing along form. Pushing themselves and getting better all the time. Part way up the learning curve and still climbing. Testing the new songs live as we go.
These are exciting times…
Good evening! I'l be touring England next week, and play the Half Moon Putney on Sunday, June 1st.
I would love it if you came down. We will play some of the Buddy Holly songs that i played on so many years ago, and a few more! I might even sing a couple.
I hope you can make it?
Best,
Tommy Allsup
