ONYA is guitar based rock: influenced by all the good things in life- surfin' rockin', fun times! Onya loves Janis Joplin, and her version of 'Piece of my Heart' never fails to raise the roof. Onya's influences have always been girls with guitars, from Chrissie Hynde and Sheryl Crowe to Gwen Stefani and KT Tunstall. Songwriting influences massive, but love narrative style of Springsteen, Emmy Lou, Fountains of Wayne, Luka Bloom & more. Fashion style influenced by vintage 2nd hand stores, glam rock, 60's chic and outer space. Other influences- Irish surf beaches, Greenwich Village, Los Angeles at night, The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Walt Whitman, W.B Yeats, Niamho and low culture. :-)
'08 Album debut 'Secrets and Lies' is a collection of alt/country and easy-listening acoustic songs. The new 'Little Diva' Album is more pop/rock oriented- Goldfrapp meets Janis Joplin. Onya's versatile songwriting and vocal ability allow her to experiment with different genres of music, and she enjoys the challengeof writing different songs according to different experiences. The current album is based on her experiences in New York and Los Angeles, and is contemporary and lively.
