Formed in 1988 under the name Dimension, the guard took the
floor for the first time in January 1989. Onyx was created in 1993 as a feeder
unit to Dimension. In 1996, the organization changed the guards primary name to
Onyx. Prior to 2000, Dimension/Onyx competed in the Independent A & Open
Classes earning WGI Medals in 1992, 1996, 1997 & 2000. In 2001, Onyx moved into
World Class competition. Earning a spot as a WGI Independent World Class
Finalist in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008, Onyx continues a tradition of
artistic and competitive excellence still today.
