The History Of Ooorgle
Originally Ooorgle was a clan called X. It all started on the wc3ft server over at www.elitegamingcorp.com AKA EGC. After about a week and 3 members, it was decided X was simply a bad name, the clan was renamed DI, Divine Intervention, which actually was derived from an earlier clan of mine on a game called Starport Galatic Empires ( www.starportgame.com ) with the same initials but a different meaning (Digital Insanity). So DI was born. After scrounging up about 10 members off EGC in Early 2006 (noteworthy : Vyper, Mars, and Freshblood (aka Spyder)) DI got its own 16 slot public wc3ft server. For about 2 months this was how it was. We didn’t scrim, didn’t have any crazy projects going on. We were just playing to have fun. Then, on April 20 , 2006, the domain www.ooorgle.com was registered by me, and the community transformed.
In early May 2006, the community was thriving, people were on the forums, our servers were ranked in the top 50 of the world, things were going really well. An old clan mate of mine from another clan I ran named Elwood came on as my right hand man, Disciplining admins, reforming the forums, and performing many other functions that are now divided up amongst many people. In late May of 06, Master, Gonja, Bennyboo, and Aequitas found themselves admin on another server : “The Surf Asylum” and strongly due to Aequitas being a funny bastard the alliance between SA (OrangeJuice) and DI was formed. Within weeks DI had new servers (Superhero Mod and UWC3) and linked up with The Surf Asylum to form some kind of Uber Community. Around this time DI went into CAL-O completely unprepared on a whim. We didn’t do that well in CAL, but did alright, largely due to one of our members “Parry” with cal-p like skills(currently in team majin). Also around this time DI became the first clan in the USA to use a Cheat Scanner to scan its members, ½ of our members were kicked out due to being filthy hackers. It was a grim time for DI, as many of those members were in fact keeping the forums alive and well. Posting dropped and it wasn’t until November of that year they revived.
In July/August 2006 OrangeJuice and 2k decided to get a dedicated server to host game servers on. One of our members at the time : Muffinman took on the task of setting them up. At that point we had 10 servers, which was a bit overwhelming at the time due to the fact I had started a new job that was eating up all my time. After a while it turned out MuffinMan was giving known hackers admin and various other people, and he was kicked out of DI for good. Later on that month Orangjuice decided to stop paying his half for the Dedicated Server and that was that. 2K went and got a 24 slot server from www.dsi-gaming.com, having been fed up with the incompetence of gameservers support staff. Today that server is our main UWC3DM server(after losing the IP once). 2k decided at that time to no longer depend on others to pay for his servers and from that point on only took on new clans with servers of their own, thus ensuring that the servers he rents would never be disbanded due to unreliability on other’s parts. Worth noting : Around this time 2k became the main Site Administrator on www.counter-hack.net , a great honor.
In late September 2006, clan morale was at an all time low. With no one to lead them(I was working like crazy) members were drifting apart, then in mid October it was decided to disband DI and reform as Ooorgle, which was not a clan but a community team. Thus freeing us from the constraints of being a clan and opening up many new doors for us in the long run. We got a new irc channel and within a week we had 50 average idlers. Higher than the maximum amount of idlers ever in #diclan. In the long run this ended up being the most beneficial decision to be made by me since starting this all. It allowed us to grow rapidly and without bounds. Around this time stefoo came in to the picture, quickly becoming the most valued member of the community team. To this day he is the best thing to have happened to this community and my sanity dealing with this community. Thank god for stefoo.
In late November 2006, I was approached by a member of the clan GoC called Danksta, his server was dwindling with popularity, so we took him on board and thus the alliance between GoC and Ooorgle was formed. Today Danksta is one of our most trusted team members, and is the person who came up with the idea for our new secret project (coming mid 2007) which will revolutionize gameplay for many. Later on in December Corona joined ooorgle and brought along with him a 32 slot server which is now the Gungame Server. He also helped set up www.vastarcade.com which is now our online arcade site.
In January of 2007, Ooorgle was made the leaders of cheat scanner on gamesurge, This is a great honor showing our dedication to the fight against hackers. During this time a man named Kefka came on to the community team and donated a large sum of money which led to many enhancements for ooorgle. Thanks Kefka.
In March of 2007, Ooorgle got sponsored a 32 slot 1.6 server and 35 slot ventrilo server by www.xsessive.com. During this period Ooorgle sponsored About:Blank (formally the infamous Pubmasters) and Ooorgle friends Team Majin (CEVO-A champs) with webdesign and hosting.
In late May of 2007, Ooorgle Designs was made by 2k, stefoo, and muffinman, offering clans customized CMS sites and 100% unique custom sites. This led to strains with www.xsessive.com as they too offer webdesign... Eventually leading to Ooorgle dropping them as their sponsor.
In early June of 2007, Ooorgle Designs Sponsors w2d (CAL IM Team) and Team c9 (CAL P Team) with websites and hosting. Later on in June 2007 Ooorgle creates the Ooorgle Gaming Awards . A gaming awards for the gaming community as a whole.
In July of 2007, Ooorgle partners with UnitedGamers the most popular gaming club on Gamesurge, the Ooorgle Gaming Awards happen (Ooorgle wins various awards), and various other events take place. At the end of July Ooorgle's website is updated to its current sexyness.
In August of 2007, Ooorgle partners with various gaming organizations primarily DSI-Gaming , in which Ooorgle is put in charge of all of their test servers, thus Ooorgle expands into many new games including Battlefield 2 and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Multiplayer. During this month about 20 or so new features were added to the Ooorgle website.
In September of 2007, oooRGLE is thriving, many new sponsorships are taken in, many new partners are taken in, noteworthy: SteamFriends , ServerBuddy (Server Side Anti Cheat Program), and WoWMod (sequel to UWC3 made by K2MIA). oooRGLE is also involved in the release of CS ProMod behind the scenes aquiring a ProMod server weeks before the beta was made public. oooRGLE also goes on a recruiting binge brining in many new staff including enigma from ClanBots and Mklaif a master IRC script writer. During this time talks are underway between ooorgle and Xsessive about oooRGLE becoming Xsessive's gaming community (replacing the failed attempt AfterhourGamers). During this time staff was totally restructured and a project management site implimented.
In October of 2007, oooRGLE is named Xsessive's Gaming Community , picks up a CAL M Source team called inevitibility, and brings on CAL P team Thundercats as their CS 1.6 team. During this time many upgrades were made to the sites + servers resulting in a jump from 500 unique website hits a day to 2000 unique hits a day. oooRGLE also jumped from 120-140 constant idlers in #ooorgle to 190-210 constant idlers (Thanks to our amazing IRC team: Spyder, Inxane, Mars, and Invisiblemonster). Also during this time oooRGLE brings on slampig from the attic as a lead server admin and aquires numerous new servers (and many more to come). This is truly a turning point for oooRGLE and we are excited to see where it leads us.
Today our irc channel has about 200 idlers, our site gets about 2000 unique hits a day(over 1 mil total), our servers are ranked top in the world, and we have about 45 people in the community team, all doing their part to enhance the experience.
