Om mig:

Opalesque is affiliated with the World Fusion Dance Company

Four Brisbane dancers; with backgrounds in cabaret and tribal bellydance, as well as burlesque; came together through their love of all things quirky and formed the troupe ‘Opalesque’. Expanding from their dance roots to explore unique electronic music inspired adaptations, Opalesque is a journey through the many colours of contemporary bellydance from the dark and mysterious to the jovial and comic. Opalesque’s goal is to broaden the artistic horizons of bellydance and inspire both the bellydance community and the general public. Their aim is to prove that there is more to bellydance that meets the eye…

Moniq first stumbled across the enchanting world of belly dance almost 20 years ago as a young girl at a Maleny (Woodford) Folk Festival dance workshop. Absolutely awestruck by this dance form, Moniq has been on a journey that has taken her through the tribal, folkloric & cabaret styles in Queensland and in Melbourne. Having worked alongside some of Australia's premier fire & circus artists, Moniq experience base explored beyond the borders of the traditional middle eastern dance scene. Her inspiration draws from her deep affiliation with modern electronic music fused with the middle eastern world....and the alternative tribal fusion style that allow her to channel that passion. She is currently teaching and performing with World Fusion Dance Company as well as solo events.

Nadine Elysa was introduced to the world of bellydance in 2002, studying under Amini of Bellydance Australia for three years. During this time she began teaching introductory classes and performing at concerts and private events. She continued to teach bellydance after Bellydance Australia relocated to Perth in 2005, and continued her own dance education by taking workshops with acclaimed international bellydance fusion artists such as Rachel Brice and Kaeshi Chai during their visits to Australia. Nadine Elysa has taught bellydance and burlesque fusion classes for Queen of the Nile Bellydance, continued her own bellydance education with Queen of the Nile's Katina, and studied dance forms such as burlesque, flamenco, ballet and Brazilian salsa and samba. She performed at the Woodford Folk Festival in 2007/2008 as part of Lola the Vamp's show. Throughout 2008, she was a regular performer at local shows and various private events and returned to Woodford in collaboration with VJ Shiptu Shaboo at the Arti Arti space.

A passion for music is what inspires Psyren’s dance. Bringing a tribal bellydance background, Psyren has studied Gypsy Caravan style for two years and responds to the unique connection within a circle of dancers. Inspired by the music of many cultures, Psyren expresses a love of movement to sound through dynamic and expressive interpretations. The empowering and spiritually grounding elements of dance are brought to life through dramatic performances and flowing choreographies.

With a lifelong fascination with the music and dance of other cultures, Siobhan has studied many bellydance genres over 16 years - classical egyptian, Turkish, cabaret, beledi, saidi, gypsy, folkloric egyptian, American Tribal Style, tribal fusion, as well as bollywood, chakra dance, trance dance and flamenco. This has evolved a unique style of laser precision, otherwordly grace and unexpected twists.
