DANSE MONDE À L'ENVERS
Vincent et Florent Sivell sont nés à l'endroit d'une mère française enseignante et artiste à temps retrouvé,d'un père
canadien-anglophone professeur d'anglais. Les conversations familiales sont trés vivantes et toujours bilingues. Ils passent le début de leur enfance entre la France (terre maternelle) et le Moyen-Orient. Leurs parents sont des internationalistes. L'adolescence est marquée par l'arrivée en Ontario (terre paternelle), écoles franco-ontariennes,puis secondaire en anglais. Grand changement dans leurs vies de tous les jours,mais les Sivell sont habitués aux boulversements. Les frères se mélangent et font leur petit bonhomme de chemin. Florent adopte une guitare et n'arrêtera jamais de jouer. Il fait des études en musique puis déménage à Vancouver, Après deux ans d'étude au Vancouver Community College il prend une pause pour reprendre contact avec le monde. Il se cherche, petits boulots,se marie,déménage au Québec dans de petites villes et direction Montréal. Il travaille pour Greenpeace et donne des cours de guitare. Ainsi de suite va la vie. Vincent commence des études de journalisme,abandonne, part en France butine les diplômes,arts plastiques,enseignement,et plusieurs jobs entre les virages avec l'amour et une famille en ligne droite.
OUVREZ LA CAGE
Les fréres ont des hauts vertigineux et des bas vraiment creux. Vincent décide de quitter la France seul et rejoint son frère après dix années de séparation. Ils s'épaulent l'un l'autre et partagent un petit apartement pour joindre les deux bouts de la ceinture. Florent fait toujours de la musique et participe à plusieurs projets,mais rien de pleinement satisfaisant. Vincent change de jobs comme un caméléon. Florent décide de jouer tout seul,participe à un atelier d'écriture offert par la SPACQ (société professionelle des auteurs et compositeurs du Québec) auprès des formateurs Danièle Faubert et Mario Chénart. Florent gratte souvent sa guitare et compose. Comme l'appartement est minuscule ,Vincent participe malgré lui à la musique. Ils se rendent compte que leurs voix vont bien ensemble. La formule marche et les frères décident de chanter ensemble leurs compos en anglais ou en français ,dans le métro et ils organisent des soirées à thèmes avec deux amis dans un loft ou bien chez eux. Des soirées dégustations de plantes sauvages. En 2006, les beaux parleurs forment le duo Oparleur,et l'année suivante,en 2007 ils se présentent au 25 anniversaire du Festival de Petite-Vallée en Gaspésie avec quatre morceaux francophones. À leur grande surprise, ils sont reçus comme participants dans la catégorie artistes-collaborateurs. Ils rentrent du festival sans prix,mais avec la hargne de réussir et de se faire entendre.
CIRCONSTANCES ATTÉNUANTES
Toujours en galère financière, les frangins cueillent des plantes sauvages,font des chantiers,peltent la neige. Consacrés à la musique, ils galèrent pour accomplir leur passion. Remuez le monde! Aboyez au ciel! Eh oui,encore une histoire de famille! Le temps passe et les jours aussi. Oparleur se cherche,se gratte,il sait rebondir.
FUCKÉ BAIN RED
Les trois se rencontrent et se rendent vite compte qu'ils ont un son bien singulier. Et ils aiment la singularité. Ils participent au Festival Infringement de Montréal en 2008 en tant que duo. Oparleur chante le quotidien et le lointain. Engagés dans la vie à contre-courant et toujours à la recherche de l'ouverture. Le textes sont mis en avant sur des mélodies accrocheuses. Depuis le début ils faisaient le tour de la planète et maintenant ils font le tour de leurs têtes.
PETIT PARADIS
Entre-temps,Vincent a quitté Montréal pour un détour par Lanaudière et a atterri à St. Alexis-Des-Monts. Au frais dans un chalet. Ils mangent,ils boivent,ils dorment dans un salon studio de musique. Les acolytes sont en train de mijoter un album aux paroles acérées,aux rythmes dansants. Soyez à l'écoute! Eux le sont! Notre premier album va sortir dans un avenir proche. YOU WISH
Here we go! Their mother is french and their father is english. Both parents are teachers though their mother is a growing artist. Vincent and Florent are raised in an intellectual environment. The Sivell brothers travel a lot and spend the beginning of their childhood in the Middle-East and their summers in the family house in France. They then move to Ontario in the mid-eighties and the family goes through another cultural shock. The family is strong and adaptability is their game. The brothers go from a french school to an english one and in their home they live totally bilingually. Florent grabs a guitare and is still holding on to it today. He moves to B.C. and starts music in college falls in love. After attending Vancouver Community College for two years Florent puts his studies aside, looking to get on with real life. Does farm work, moves to Quebec, skips through a few towns and lands in Montreal. He works for Greenpeace, teaches the guitar, plays in a few bands, perfects his guitare playing. Always searching for something else: himself. Vincent moves to France in the early nineties, attends the Beaux-Arts then university, finally ends up teaching english for a few years. He settles down and has a child. After ten years in Europe Vincent leaves everything, flies to Montreal and moves in with his brother. The brothers had not seen each other for a decade, a small lifetime in fact. Both are going through seperations, they are broke, doing odd jobs, and they question what to do next.
SIMPLE MAN
Florent is still playing, but he is going solo. They live in a tiny apartment and Florent composes a lot. In the evening music and cooking are prominent. Vincent gets involved, plays a little percussion, sings along. Their voices blend together well and the harmonies come fast. They push further and play in the metro, and with time Vincent concentrates on singing and drops the percussions. In 2006 the duo Oparleur is born. Oparleur, meaning speaker, megaphone or speaking out. The songs tackle many subjects such as everyday life, society, our world. Lyrics are a priority! They play the bar gigs in Montreal and sharpen their senses. With friends they organize cultural events in a loft or in their apartment. The events consist of live music, art, debates, and food (local organic products and wild plants). Always looking to share, the brothers like mixing with people. 2007 is important for the duo, they participate in the Festival de Petite-Vallée in Gaspésie. It is their first big take-off which confirms their desire to continue and stay fresh.
HARD UP BUT NOT DOWN YET!
Still active and ready to blast! Again a family affair! He is looking to gig and both share their passion for music. Eventually, they talk about playing together, Byron bringing his electronic sounds to Oparleurs' folk-rock alternative waves. And, it must be added, his experienced ear!
WHY DO YOU EXIST?
Months go by and finally in spring 2008 they decide to work seriously on some tracks and record a demo. The band is invited to play at the Infringement Festival in Montreal that same summer. Oparleur needs to work, develop their essence.
GIVE ME WORDS
In the meantime, Vincent moves to various sites in the countryside north of Montreal, finally landing in St.Alexis-Des-Monts. In a cottage, on a silver lake Oparleur is now recording its soon to be released album. They intend to break the ice, ready for some shows. Catch them or they will catch you.
