Ever been on vacation with The Flaming Lips? Been on an interstellar trip with The Beach Boys? It might be a little something like listening to The Orange Peels' latest, Circling the Sun. If you are hooked by the sweeping catchiness of The Doves or the sunnier songs from early on in Radiohead's career, you will take quite a liking to The Orange Peels. They make songs for paradise, but maybe a paradise thats orbiting the planet and primarily hangs above the West Coast and anything further south or equally utopian. They are dreamy, spacey, dazzling, and shamelessly playful.
--DELUSIONS OF ADEQUACY
The Orange Peels' third album, 2005's Circling the Sun, is their best album yet, which is really saying something considering the strength of their brief discography thus far. Wonderfully sugar-coated with a melancholy heart, the record glides past on waves of gently strummed guitars, swooning Mellotron strings, and heavenly vocal harmonies. Main Peel Allen Clapp comes up with his finest batch of songs here, too. His melodies are crisp and clean, the lyrics perfectly wistful, and the arrangements never less than lovely. . .

Rev. Clapp Thank you again for tonights firey sermon from on high! Also, praises to Brother Bob, Deacon John, and Sister Jill for their hymnal contributions.
Yay for the Orange Peels! It was so great to see and hear you guys again - and thanks for the yummy cookie! You guys were awesome. Rob and I were deleriously tired from driving 11 hours (and sleeping for about 3, ouch!) so we had to wimp out of catching your last couple of songs...but what we heard, we loved. Hope to see ya'll again and share another bill in the not so distant future!

Dear Orange Peels. I enjoy playing Rock drums. Let's jam! I'd like you to hear my new album called "Cuts n' Scrapes". It's on the Can-O-Whoopass label. (it's an indie). Looking forward to your rock and roll greatness yall!!!!
I just wanted to say that, though I'm probably not your biggest fan (there's always someone more obsessed than the next), I am a huge fan. Your music always moves me deeply, because although a lot of your lyrics are almost melancholy the tunes and sheer wistful hope makes me happy. :3 Your album got me through a lot of difficult and happy times in my life, and I'm so utterly thankful. You guys are seriously talented and I can't wait to hear more. I love you guys. ;D -kiwi♥♥
