FORMAT CHANGE: Barking Spider Tavern 1st Tuesday Open Mic
Starting next month (Tuesday, March 3, 2009), we’ll be switching to a NEW FORMAT for our monthly 1st Tuesday open mics at the Barking Spider Tavern. The open mic signup will move up to 7:30PM, with the open mic starting at 8PM. The one hour paid feature set will be moved back ‘til 10PM. In other words, we'll have open mic from 8PM 'til 10PM, then the one hour feature set from 10PM 'til 11PM, then continue open mic from 11PM 'til 12:30AM.
Interestingly, this was the original format when we started in January of 2000. The open mic eventually got so popular (after a few years) that I chose to drop the feature set hour and make more open mic time slots available. Thanks to the bad economy and other factors, we no longer have as much of a scheduling "problem" as in those boom years. The feature set is back, rewarding deserving (and/or grossly popular) acts and adding an interesting “wrinkle” to the evening’s proceedings .
My biggest reason for moving the feature set back (’til 10PM) is to accommodate the many open mic participants who've stated a preference for playing early and getting out fairly early (in some cases). This new/old format structure will accommodate eight "early bird" acts before the feature set. It will also eliminate the disruption which was being caused by having the signup at 8:30, in the midst of an early scheduled (8PM ‘til 9PM) feature set.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, the Barking Spider is at 11310 Juniper (rear), Cleveland, OH 44106. See their website for contact info and local directions: www. barkingspidertavern. com
Please note: There’s also a 4rth Tueday open mic, hosted by Will Cheshier, at the Barking Spider. It starts around 8PM also.Contact Will for more details: www. willcheshier. com

p.s. - A new recording of "You Got Fisted" is also debuting all this month EXCLUSIVELY on X Magazine! Be sure and check it out while you're there! This may be your only chance to hear it until the release of our full length, "ACockBlockApocalypse".
If we may, BTL will play two Akron shows: 7/17 - 9:00 at Musica and 7/19 - 6:00 at Rock The Docks. All the best to you and thanks for allowing this blurb - BTL
I've recently changed the format of our "1st Tuesday" Songwriters' Open Mic (held on the 1st Tuesday of every month) at the Barking Spider Tavern. The evenings will now begin with a one-hour "feature set", 8PM 'til 9PM, from an original act. Open mic signup will be at 8:30PM and the open mic proper will run from 9PM 'til 12:30AM. Open mic participants are encouraged, but NOT required to play original material.
Please note that Will Cheshire hosts a "regular" (less originals oriented) open mic at the Barking Spider on the 4rth Tuesday of every month.
Thanks for stopping by. We thought that it was long overdue to have a place just for the duo. We are actively seeking opportunities to promote the acoustic side of Implied Logic in addition to the electric band.
Yes, we are finally totally acoustic, with a REAL bass (not one of those things on a stick) and everything.
