This site was created to network singer/songwriter acts (primarily solo acts, but bands are more than welcome to join as well).
The goal here is to offer resistance to the mainstream and promote REAL songwriters. Although we are interested in everything, we want to hear that writer who plays for friends around campfires and open mics. There are countless writers out there who are writing the best material but aren't pursing a career for whatever reasons...but still write. Or, maybe you are a writer looking for a partner or a group to form a band. What I am trying to say is: we are looking for the real deal. So if you are trying to write the latest pop country, rap or modern rock hit, we're not interested. We want to hear something we haven't already heard a dozen times. No reprocessed music needed here. 99% of Friend Requests will be accepted, but when I visit your site and listen to your music and I feel like I've heard it a million times, you will be denied. Because allowing industry "music" will open the door for countless Friend Requests from those who do not understand the real nature of music.
So if you get what I am saying, submit a friend request so we can all check out one another's stuff. Once you are in the Open Mic Network, be sure to drop in and add a comment whenever you upload a new song to your page or want to advertise a performance. Not a writer? Join anyway!
