"If you’re going to invest in any album by a ‘singer songwriter’ this year, then make it Import/Export – it’s a marvellous record, and I can’t recommend it enough." - Drownedinsound.com
"Seymour's songwriting with Open Mouth might actually be more accomplished than anything he ever did with Miss Black America. The songs I’ve heard so far distance themselves from the past, the history, and discord of yore... (Castle Keep) exacts the kind of energy that leaves you speechless for moments after" - Drownedinsound.com
“Open Mouth is striking for Seymour's singularly personal musical approach… superb” – God Is In The TV
“Soaked in emotion and delivered with conviction… another stunning showcase of Seymour's musical abilities” – Rhythm & Booze
"Presumably the artist went to some trouble to record these tracks. Why he bothered is a mystery - perhaps he is deranged or slightly ill" - I Shot The Deputy
“The future is looking increasingly bright for Open Mouth” – Drownedinsound.com
Open Mouth is the solo project of Miss Black America singer Seymour Patrick, born in late 2005 when line-up troubles in MBA found Seymour unexpectedly alone in a recording studio with producer Andy Taylor (Editors, Carina Round).
The first Open Mouth album - 'Import/Export' - will be released on 14th May 07 via R*E*P*E*A*T Records. Around 20% of the proceeds from physical copies will be donated to War Child.
Seymour recently did a short tour of the UK with London-based singer/songwriter, Dexy, in support of their joint 7” single, the critically-acclaimed ‘Castle Keep/Waiting For An Accident’ . It all went rather well.
Seymour will be found gigging wherever he’s asked to play until the day he dies.

Be warned, Sheffield has a high rock factor owing to its proximity to Birmingham. You'll want to turn up the rockmatron by a factor of around three depending on what time you're on. Such was my love of my Sheff childhood that on the day we moved I took my He-Men box and buried my figures around the place, so you might want to take a trowel in case there's time for any digs. Battlecat fetches a reasonable price on Ebay, and I think he went down with his saddle and headgear intact.
The Gee-Gees are a super-group with a difference. Billy Childish said "learn three chords and form a band", which was pretty much the motto of punk music. The Gee-Gees go one better than that. Their motto is "learn ONE NOTE and form a band". All their songs only have ONE NOTE!!! Not even a chord! Just the ONE NOTE! Even the singing is all on this ONE NOTE, And that note is "G", hence the band name. Working within this strict boundary makes them clearly better than The White Stripes, and any other bands that use more than one note in their music. See The Gee-Gees play the definitive versions of some pop classics, but with all the other unneccesary notes taken away, to leave a set of potent, streamlined hits for you lucky people. Give your brain a workout, by imagining how these songs SHOULD sound, along to the ONE NOTE FUN of THE GEE-GEES!
For you star-spotters out there, the band features members of Thee Vicars, Real Shemales From Brazil and The Deets.
(the first band will be on very soon after the doors open at 8pm, so please arrive early.)

Ta for coming. Me and Jeremy ended up still lost in a rainstorm in Catford at 3am after deciding there was probably a shortcut home. Think I'd had about four weak lagers when inspiration took me. Planning to come to Nebraska at the Fox Sunday if you're around to see me get twatted on three glasses of wine and a baileys.
On Saturday 17th November at the wondrous watering hole that is Nambucca, we have the bouncetabulous Dexter headlining, with awesome supports in the likes of the tremendous Rum Shebeen, the folktastic The Prelude and the terrific Milk Kan The very next day, we relax and sip dry sherry at the marvelous Monkey Chews. "Candlepower" is the fourth release from Champion Kickboxer on Thee SPC and sees the Sheffield four-piece building substantially on the textures of their well-received 2006 album "Perforations" with five new, thoughtful and evocative songs.
