Adding fuel to the sonic fire, on electric and bowed double bass, VALENTINA MAXWELL-TANSLEY, a classicly trained goth rock uber-babe with serious skill and ADAM-V (Digitalis Effect) on guitar.

Based in Melbourne Australia, Opera Macabre represent the culmination of a dynamic collaboration since 1993. In late 2003 released "Thorns" a diverse 14 track CD of new music. They are currently in the process of completing tracks for their next album "Thirteen O'Clock" with new songs previewing in current live shows.

Working together as THE BARONESS AND LOVE LIES BLEEDING they released two highly acclaimed albums "The Way of All Flesh" and "Dark Beauty" through Australian indie label Heartland Records and feature on numerous compilations.

Attaining cult-like status through their elaborate one-off projects and performances, they have been major players in many special events including the Dead of Night Gothic Balls, Continuum 3 - Creatures Natural and Unnatural, where they performed to a fabulous audience that including special guests, authors Neil Gaiman and Richard Harland.

They have been interviewed and reviewed for publications and webzines including Fiend, Gothic Beauty, Mick Mercer, MKS, HQ, Beat Magazine, The Age, The Herald Sun and numerous radio stations, having featured in JJJ's Top Ten Gothic Songs.

Consulted during production of Warner's QUEEN OF THE DAMNED as experts in dark underground culture; enthralling the 2,000 strong crowd as headline performers at the Night of The Damned Concert.

In May 2004 Opera Macabre were honored to be featured guest artists at the COVENANT Melbourne concert.

With a dedicated underground following, making the club play lists and receiving praise from countries as diverse as France, Great Britain, The USA, Germany and Russia in their past incarnation as THE BARONESS AND LOVE LIES BLEEDING. They are now appearing on club and radio play-lists around the globe in the guise of OPERA MACABRE.

In October 2005, at the invitation of the legendary DJ Taiki (D-Grimoire), The Baroness presented a special solo performance on behalf of Opera Macabre at BLACK VEIL in Osaka, Japan. A wild wonderful night with the cool ghouls of Osaka tapping right into the vein of the macabre magic. The Baroness is in the process of planning a 2008 return. You would be right in saying OM like to play with their fiends and in 2006 and 2008, The Baroness completed guest vocal work on two tracks for THE TENTH STAGE, the project of Roberto Massaglia (TANKT) and John Von Ahlen (Subterrane Studio). The tracks also feature Chris Mc Carter (IKON) on guitar and Mark Tansley (SUSPIRIA, INTRAVENUS). She also performed on stage with them at their CD launch and looks forward to a more in depth collaboration with THE TENTH STAGE in 2008-09, with more involved vocal and live work planned for the future. She recorded feature vocals on a track for the forthcoming solo project from Mark Tansley (SUSPIRIA, INTRAVENUS). The Baroness is currently (2010) working on feature vocals for Roberto Massaglia's THE VICTIM'S BALL project, a steampunk/ classical/medieval electro adveture. We look forward to many more creative adventures.
