Operation net was founded by Kali Fairchild in July 2008 after she returned from a two week trip to Uganda, Africa. She left as a changed person and wanted to do something to help. Operation net orginally started as a year long fundraiser, but then Greg Pittman came into the picture. Greg had also traveled to Uganda, and met Kali while there. Together they decided to keep Operation Net going and made it into an offical NGO. A total of $11,900 was raised in a year, and now Greg and Kali continue to raise money for Operation Net. .
What is Operation Net?
The goal of Operation Net is to raise as much money as possible to purchase mosquito nets which will then be given to the people of Uganda. Mosquito nets are a key item in preventing the spread of malaria and helping control the disease. Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease, and mosquito nets are a key step in controlling the disease. For more information on Malaria, see below. .
What Can You Do?
For only $9.50, a mosquito net can be purchased and used in the fight against Malaria. This may seem like a small amount, but being as many Africans live on only $1 a day, $10 is a hard amount of money to come by. By donating money to Operation Net, you can help a fellow friend in Uganda live.
Tell you friends, family, work, church, school etc, about this and get them involved! Check out some more facts about malaria(below) and educate everyone around you about it. We have the power, money, and wisdom to stop this disease and it is up to us to do so! Bono says our generation is going to be known for three things; the war on terrorism, the electronical world, and what we did or didn't do to help put the fire out in Africa. I don't know about you but in 30 years I want to be able to say I did my best to help everyone who is suffering in Africa. .
