O.P. Stylee is a Pop/Reggae/Country/Punk/Surf/Latin/Rock influenced group based in Bakersfield, California. Originally formed in the early 90's Regrouped and rejuvenated by singer/
lyricist O.P.Gipson and bassist/ songwriter Mark Powell. , the band has continued with the original concept of blending reggae rhythms with rock, pop and country accents. Anchored by drummer Mary, the newest member, the lineup is rounded out by guitarist/ vocalist Aaron Novak and keyboardist Steve Wilson. The original band established its' fan base in Bakersfield, CA and collected even
more fans up and down the state as they performed in various cities ranging
from Tahoe to San Diego. The success of the bands catchy lyrics and dance
tunes allowed O.P. to branch out nationally.
O.P. Gipson and Daniel Burt gave birth to the first incarnation of the band
which originated in Bakersfield. Other original members included Alan Alexander, Larry Hernandez, Mike Day, Grammy winner Dave Neuhauser and Latin Lover
Louie Cruz. O.P. Stylee has shared the bill with fellow reggae bands
Steele Pulse, Eek a Mouse, Big Mountain, the
Untouchables, and most recently followed Fishbone on stage at the Rockin' Roots Fest in Bakersfield.
Although life's events led some of the original members of O.P. Stylee in new directions, the current line up has recently been recharged by
modern technological advances in the music industry, allowing
the band to bring forth a fresh mix to their music. These collaborative
efforts, which elaborate on the original stylee sound, paved the way for a
more sophisticated and innovative form of cultural pop and brings sounds from
around the globe onto one stage.
The bands revamped motif, with the still distinctive voice of O.P., is
enjoyed and well received as longtime fans and new listeners alike hit the dance
floor at O.P.Stylee's shows.
