Sounds Like
Straight forward rock - sometimes heavier, sometimes softer.
'Listen to the music of old souls,' sings Optimistic to a Fault singer Tucker Carter. Perhaps that is the best definition of a band whose sound ranges from heavy to melodic and is difficult to pigeon-hole into any one particular musical genre. Known to their fans as OTF, their sound is influenced by each individual member's musical taste, which ranges from punk, to grunge, to industrial, to old-school blues, and much more. What ties it all together is a genuine love of music. As the members of OTF often say, "WE LOVE TO ROCK!" And they do. Find your way to a live show and you will know it's true. The most notable difference between OTF and other bands is the level of seriousness they have for their music, coupled with the experience and sheer ability it takes to bring such a patchwork of sound together into something complex, meaningful, and unique. Further, when you listen to OTF's lyrics, you may find that you have learned something about yourself and the world around you. Their music touches on many facets of everyday life; yet, many times, there are important polemical messages and heated debates positioned within the lyrics. Probably the most important message you will gather from OTF is to remain aware of the world around you and your own place within it and that there is something to be said for the power of one's own mind. But, most importantly, OTF knows how to keep it real. Echoed within the depths of the song, 'The Pride of Youth,' are the words, "Don't quit before you follow your heart," and I think that's exactly what the members of OTF are doing. After all, they are: OPTIMISTIC TO A FAULT.
