Welcome

Hi! My name is ~hippy~ and this is my on-going myspace project. Not being satisfied with the general layout of myspace, I decided that I had to do something different. I will continue adding to this as I see fit. Please dont write to me asking how I did this, I will just ignore your questions. I am a busy person and unfortunately I dont have the time to answer everyones questions. If you really want to learn more about the art of html/css then get a text book and start reading!

About Me

Oh, so now I have to explain stuff about me? Hrmmmm.... What can I say? Well, to start with, I'm a guitarist and I have been in and out of bands for the past 6 years or so... At the moment I am the frontman of a band called [oneyearpast]. It was kinda strange at first, because I had never been a singer, let alone the singer of a band. I no longer had a guitar to hide behind and it was really quite daunting. I'm really enjoying it though and things seem to be working really well with this band.

In my other life, I'm a full-time student. I'm currently studying Computer Science at RMIT University in Melbourne. Its not really that interesting, I mean I enjoy coding and that kinda stuff, I just hate all the useless theory and the fact that most of the course doesn't allow much creative freedom. Damn those non-artistic people trying to ruin everything! To counteract this frustration, in my spare time (do I even have any?), I do a bit of 3d/Digital arts and web design stuff. I have a personal website that I am working on at the moment:[optykal.design] check it out (you will need a flash-enabled browser), I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, but hopefully one day it will be finished

Music

I listen to a lot of heavy music. Being in a heavy rock band, it kinda goes without saying that heavy music is an influence on my life. On the other hand I still appreciate a lot of other styles of music. One of my favourite groups is the Tea Party. I love all their softer/middle eastern styled stuff. Other than that, music is a release for me. Through music I find that I can vent my feelings of frustration and anger without having to worry about hurting the feelings of others. I can't say that music is my life, there is so much in this world to be inspired by, that it would be a shame to let music consume everything that you live for. So i'll leave it at that. Hey its my page, I can say what I want right? hehe. </rant>

Design

Ok, so I'm not a professional, well at least not yet. I'm in the process of working on world dominationl haha... Well, the whole optykal design thing is kinda like a pet project. I will be working on it over the next few years so that once I finish uni, I will have an online portfolio to show off. Thats the plan anyway. I have had quite a bit of experience in a number of programming/scripting languages but I am more interested in what I can do creatively. I can't really see myself being a computer programmer, I'll probably end up being a network engineer or something, but at least I will always have web design to fall back on.
