For the unexposed, the Opulent Temple is a self funded theme camp at the annual Burning Man arts festival that takes place in the Black Rock desert of Nevada the week before Labor Day. We throw nightly parties showcasing underground, world class electronic dance music in a setting of art and creation we've made ourselves. Our community and fund raising events are based in San Francisco, but our production exists one week a year in the desert. We bring it all out, put it up and take it down ourselves.
The Vision of the Opulent Temple is to gift a space for sacred dance to world class dance music at Burning Man. It is our intention to create the space for peak experience, community creation and development, and inspiration that serves as a road map for what's possible in the so called 'default world.' The effort is self generated by the tribe, ie., no one gets paid to create our production. On the contrary, key members put a lot of their own time, effort, and sometimes money all year around to to bring it back every year.
The Opulent Temple has shown up big for BRC going on 6 years in a row now with the most diverse line ups of world class talent the playa has ever seen. We are vets and virgins alike, looking for friendly, down to earth, hard working, drama free, responsible, self sufficient tribe members who are in line with the vision to create a beautiful camp at Burning Man to bring joy to literally thousands of people every night.
No special skills are needed, but we're of course looking for any help with construction, design, lighting, visuals, welding, sound, art projects, organizing, fundraising, bartending, driving, and the like. Being a part of a sound camp is not for everyone! If you just want to show up to Burning Man and have only care free fun we are not for you. If you want to contribute to the event from the other side in a substantial way and have uber fun doing it, you'll love it. Everyone allowed to join can expect to work and contribute, but trust us that it's very rewarding! That contribution doesn't have to be labor on playa, there are lots of ways...
