Opus Ditty’s debut album, "Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus," presents a hip, neo-traditional approach to children’s music with a blend of pop, rock, country, and storytelling that takes the whole family on an uplifting musical adventure. These original songs and stories inspire, educate, and draw the listener into a sonic journey through the rain-forest, the farm, and the land of dreams, to name a few. Opus and his friends, the Hoedown Gang, have begun an exciting musical odyssey and everyone’s invited. There’ no tellin’ where Opus, the Hoedown Gang, and the Joyride Jet Engine Bus will travel next. So get on board, "Be yourself, play your part, and sing along!"
Adults and children alike have fantastic reviews for Opus Ditty:
"We lovelovelove it -- all 3 of us! Desmond really likes the walk through the
rain-forest and he really loves country music so the grandpa’s farm song is right up his alley."
-Courtney, Desmond, and Honey
"We love the CD!!! Lily loves ’the boy music’- asks for it daily in the car?
She requests the lullaby (which is also my fav- sounds a little ’Yo La Tengo" to me...) Really, really great- very clever and entertaining..." - Alison and Lily G.
The result of this narrative thread is a simple yet rich context that allows the music to take you on an adventure to a place where songs reside in all of us - our imaginations. Opus Ditty not only makes music, he creates the world in which it exists. He has begun an endless odyssey for which his debut album sets the stage. Who knows where Opus, the Hoedown Gang, and the Joyride Jet Engine Bus, will go from here. Who knows how far your child’s, and your own, imagination will take you, once inspired by the sounds of song.
Opus Ditty Back-story
Opus Ditty grew up on a farm in rural Ohio. As a boy, his favorite time of day was when the chores where done. Afterwards he would sit on the front porch listening to his grandfather tell stories about all the adventures he had traveling around the world, while his grandmother played old 45’s in the front room. Listening to those stories, Opus got to thinking, and decided to have some adventures of his own, so he built the Joyride Jet Engine Bus out of spare parts he found in the barn. He loaded up the bus with his favorite instruments and set off to see the world. He traveled to every continent, making friends and writing songs about all the things he did and saw.
Everywhere that Opus went, two things were always the same. First, was that everybody and everything seemed to experience the world in their own unique way. Second, no matter where he went, it seemed all walks of life deeply enjoyed their own kind music. Of all his travels, these were Opus’ most important and inspiring discoveries.
In 2005, Opus’ travels led him to New York City, where by chance, he encountered Kevin Meeker. Kevin was then, and still is, an experienced Recording Engineer who recently relocated from Los Angeles to New York seeking in his words, "something more...worthwhile to do." While in Los Angeles Kevin worked with a vast variety of talents ranging from Dr. John, Sparta, Brian Setzer, and Beck (kevinmeeker.com). Opus wasted no time in presenting a group of songs to record, and Kevin not only accepted the challenge, but he went on to ingeniously craft them into the seamless audio adventure now known as "Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus."

"What About Pluto" is an instant Spaghetti Cake classic. A live concert favorite for Spaghetti Cake, mixed by the great Earl Cohen.
"Who's Your Best Friend" is a 'tween girl fist-pumping skirt-twirling pop anthem about the magical power of true friendship. Inspired by Glen's own music students at school, this catchy hook will have you dancing in your living rooms and singing along with every word. Mixed by Earl Cohen.
"Miles and Miles of Smiles" - This new bonus track rounds out the "Pluto" EP.
