We've got a bit of good news. We have incorporated as a not for profit social enterprise. We now join the big wigs of grassroots good deedery. Congratulations to everyone.
We've grown a lot this past year, and while we've had our share of good fortune, the main reason, is the individuals who have committed their time and efforts to further Opus projects. Often for no money and a great deal of personal sacrifice. To all of those people. Thank you.
One of the most successful projects we launched in '08 (and the topic of this message) was NOW THEN Magazine. A free magazine for folk in Sheffield. Part of the ethic behind this publication is to promote the doing's of independent traders, community groups and Charities. We do this through editiorial and by confining those who are allowed to advertise to that group. We also aimed to encourage activism and independent choice across our readership, asking people to involve themselves in the decisions being made about their homes, communities and city.
The content of NOW THEN is written largely by external contributors, in this sense we hope it represents a series of voices. It is with this in mind that we would ask support. If you have something to say, or know of an issue (national, local or otherwise) that you believe strongly about, please submit articles to us. (subs@nowthensheffield.com) Word count for pages is around the 600/700 margin. Don't be shy.
Another aspect that will help progress this publication and its ams is financial. We take adverts from any independent trader, charity or community group. If you, or someone you know, is after an advert for their project, organisation or business. Please contact us on ads@nowthensheffield.com
In the current climate we've got to bond together and support the things we love. Be it live shows, club nights, local business or simply each other. Its a cheesy finish. But i'm sure you'll all appreciate where I'm
Sleazonal Greetings Sinners, The DEVIL’S JUKEBOX has five VERY good reasons why you should be at the PACKHORSE, (Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, opp. Library pub) on FRIDAY 12th DECEMBER.
1) We’re being supported by TOM ATTAH- a seriously great bluesman from the delta basin of South Yorkshire, X-RAY CAT- rockabilly hep cat and seriously all round nice chap, and the man, the legend, the serious seriousness that is SERIOUS SAM BARRETT.
2) The new speakers I bought, for those of you who missed us last time, have turned out to be every bit as crystal clear as I thought they might be.
3) It’s my birthday…
4) It’s probably the last time we’re going to be playing for quite some time as one of our number is heavily pregnant.
5) We may if we get it done in time, and I stress may, be launching our new CD.
So Five Good reasons to drink yourself silly before New Years.
