ORACLE was a Heavy Metal band based in the Central North Carolina area from 1990 until 1993. In that time, the band recorded one 4-song cassette demo (which became known as the “Captain Crunch” demo), one self-financed 7-song CD release entitled ‘Selah’ and an as-yet unreleased 2-song demo with Robert Kerns taking over lead vocals for the departed Shawn Pelata.
During its brief life, the band shared stages in NC, SC & VA with such bands as OVERDRIVE, AFTERMATH A.D., SEDUCER, SERAPHIM, STONED OAK, MALUSIDE, MISPLACED AGGRESSION & others.
In 2002, the ‘Selah’ release was reissued as a split CD with the band EMERALD on Magdelene Records.
The band is currently inactive, but the members have gone on to other musical endeavors.
Robert Kerns is the guitarist for Raleigh NC’s SWARM THEORY.
Shawn Pelata has recorded albums with such bands as TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT (Pony Canyon Records, Japan and Adrenalin Records, Europe), LINE OF FIRE (Tribunal Records, USA) and K-OCTAVE (Hellion Records, Europe). He has also provided guest vocals on albums by THE DEMONSTRATION (Tribunal Records, USA), KILLWHITNEYDEAD (Tribunal Records, USA) and LIBERTY N’ JUSTICE (LnJ Records, USA).
